A cold, but nice afternoon to explore in the woods. by Lewis Craik, on Flickr
As per the last few posts, a beautiful afternoon to be out on the bike, but bloody freezing! Cycling through frozen puddles is fun, but the splash back on bare legs isn't!

I was around your neck of the woods over Christmas, sadly I only managed a couple of rides;https://www.strava.com/activities/233691658

Was really looking forward to the descent into Steyning but a combo of a slippery road surface and old people in cars meant a very 'tempered' descent!
I do a lot of rides, but this one was certainly worth sharing. Did my usual (except the descent, came a slightly different way down) Mynd route in the snow. Was just breath takingly pretty up there today, very little wind, brisk and bright.
First climb had a pretty decent view...
Climb rather slower than usual...
Got to stop for a chat about Fat Bikes and the merits in snow...
Top of Caer Caradoc peeping out of the cloud...
Looks like we were in the alps rather than Shropshire...
Top of Pole Bank...
Fresh lovely crunchy snow...
What a cracking ride, really one of the best of the year.

6hr epic today, would like to say I enjoyed every minute but it got tough towards the end as I ran out of steam!

I had to stop off at Wyton's Canberra, my Grandpa worked with the massive camera that was carried in it's belly!

Which ones if you don't mind me asking?
Did a good chunk of the Brampton Valley Way and home via Pistford reservoir. The state of my back tells me mine are not catching the crud...

Have a look at the link, these are the ones I got, highly recommend.
Rather than the usual bike propped up against a tree shot, I thought I'd go for this cool Unimog I spotted when crossing the railway:
Railway Unimog by Lewis Craik, on Flickr
I did 20km, mainly through woods and it was hard work, especially as the muddy bits were either really boggy or still frozen solid.

Cracking unimog!!
Today I went out to the local trails at sherwood pines. Still lots of snow around although a lot of it had frozen solid which made it quite a challenge if stuck in a rut.

I did just over 8miles before deciding I need to invest in some overshoes and calling it a day. I'll probably head back New Years day.

So, after Sundays excellent Long Mynd in the snow ride I went for a quick blast out on the road bike, just to get myself acquainted. Managed to get time for a longer one today, heading over to Ludlow, up past Mortimer Forest, down to Wigmore and looping back towards Downton > Bromyard then back home into the Corvedale. Absolutely stunning afternoon weather and ride wise...
As someone who loves beautiful old houses AND Porsches, I rather liked the look of this little place...
Was starting to lose the light so had to head back pretty sharpish having gone out for longer than I intended...
And then this evening it was back out on the MTB for cycling club night. Didn't take any on the actual ride, but this one at the end of ride pub stop at the Severn Valley Railway was rather christmassy...

Glentress yesterday. Surprisingly grippy, although I struggled with the mental barrier of keeping the speed up in the corners when the trail was frosty white!
You were probably right to trust your instinct on that.I went and rode some DH trails on Monday - gradually upped the speed until this happened. Fortunately I managed it dissipate most of the crash energy by sliding on my arse for 15 yards
