First 'proper' ride on my new bike today. So here's a couple of photos from that ride...

A tractor tipped a tanker trailer over on the Crondall to Well road, shortly before the turn for Bentley. I was able to walk the bike through, and look back at the scene. No-one hurt, contents of the tank flowing away down the road, hydraulic fluid leaking out of the back of the tractor, and the two drivers (red Case was towing a crop sprayer) were matter-of-factly going about the process of hooking up strops, presumably to right the thing.

Hmm possible lucky escape for me tonight then - I was riding that in the opposite direction down the hill from Well towards Crondall with a fair tailwind ! Is that after the Bentley turning but before the 90 degree ish left as I ran proper wide on the left with the bike feeling unstable (good job nothing in opposite direction). I had wondered if it was because I was fast down there tonight but Strava says nothing special (I was mindful of gusty side winds). Fluids on road would explain and if so feeling relieved as its a reasonably rapid run down into Crondall.

From your description, yes, it sounds like exactly the spot.

Past the Bentley turning, left at the start of the copse, right into a straight along past the small woodland, with the field entrance on the right, just after the last tree, before the fast left-hander you mention. Then it sweeps into the open right hander down the hill to Crondall, passing that minor road junction off to the left. It was bang on opposite that last tree that the bowser went over, as I think it was being towed out of the field on the right. The contents of the bowser were flowing away down the right hand verge, and the blue tractor was leaking fluids from the rear as it stood under that large tree.

The sight lines aren't great on that bend anyway, so I'd take extra care out that way for a while yet, as the spill was fairly significant and I've no idea if it was cleaned up properly. I always used to ride it in the direction you were travelling, having done a big loop up the A30 from Farnborough (Blackwater) to Hook, down to Warnborough, up Firs Lane to the RAF Odiham gate, then around to Long Sutton and Well. Then I'd carry on to Crondall, and up Heath Lane, before dropping into Church Crookham and thence back to Farnborough via Aldershot Road (The Foresters pub) and Ively Road/Kennels Lane. Are you on Strava? I'll give you a 'follow' (if I'm not already).

I'm normally out riding around there but for the next 5 weeks I'll be mostly in Southern California lol. Bit warmer than Hampshire. Here's me out today, that's Mexico in the distance.

Stayed on Wookey Hole last year in a cottage just behind the pub - great place for cycling but Ebbor Gorge is a hell of a climb if you have not warmed up! I jumped on the bike and went straight into 2 miles of climbing!

Went for a spin from home through Cockermouth and out through Buttermere and over Honister Pass this morning, then home via Keswick. Only the second time I've done Honister, went a bit better this time, did at least manage to ride all the way up with just a couple of stops. I haven't been out on the bike anywhere near as much as I'd like to have been this year, hopefully now the lighter nights are here and the weather's improving I'll get out a lot more.

It was a lot muddier than I expec in the woods today, I almost got caught out clearing this log, for a split second I thought I was going to end up in the bog.

As its Easter Sunday it would have been rude not to have a Creme Egg as a mid ride snack.

First time on the bike for 3 weeks today (been in Califonia on holiday) feels good to be back out especially in the sunshine!

Not quite as obscene as it looks, though there is a drop of around 8-10 metres, the 'bridge' is nearly a metre wide and has a good approach/run-off. Just made for a good photo biggrin

Anyway, beautiful autumn morning, so went for a spin, 62km up the Beaches...

Obligatory shot of bike and moon - to prove earliness...

One for all the 'Home and Away' fans, no filming today...

And of course a coffee stop - Narrabeen Beach

Is that Castle Hill, Hudds in the background if I'm not mistaken?
