Amazing weather today in and around Bristol. Had a great ride, 30miles in under a couple of hrs with few stops, which was nice after I was a total girl and had a hissy fit before leaving about:
Finally got out the house and all was well. Just ride :-)
Didn't get many bike photos but there's a few below.
The view from Dundry. Sorry about the saddle bag. And bottle.
Obviously....
- not having cycling sunglasses,
- not knowing what to wear for the temperature,
- not having fitted a bottle cage to my new bike so did that but the bike's bolts didn't fit so had to re-use old ones,
- first time wearing full roadie lycra and I felt like I looked like a total b3llend,

Yes it was a lovely down here in Bristol but I couldnt believe how many people I saw in bib tights and hi-vis jackets... Now I get the whole full kit pro wker look isnt great and I can see how hi-vis is a good thing given the average Bristolian's driving standards but there wasnt a cloud in the sky at 1500 and some nice colourful lycra wont break the bank....
130km road ride today out towards Wantage then back through the Chilterns

I noticed that too, I even saw an almost 100% hi vis clad bloke at 1 point, only his shorts weren't fluro yellow. I was in full ninja mode.Thorpy said:
Correct, i was at the top of Oldfield overlooking Honley. Presume you are a local then?
Not that local; I'm in Leeds. But my dad is from Lepton and at one point in his misspent youth he had the keys for that there castle! Have some good memories of going up there when the pub was stil standing but that's possibly mainly nostalgia. Still some good riding out that way though. I'm planning to head out to Emley Moor next week. Another mid ride creme egg stop today, this time at Combe Abbey. I made the school boy error of not bringing any money to get an ice cream from the ice cream man - rubbish.

Great view. Used to ride up there a lot - going from south Bristol to Chew Valley. Used to compete with myself to see how high a gear I could get round the hairpin bend going up from Highridge Common or use all the way up Queens Road through Wivvywood. Loved the descent too...Laurel Green said:

I have to admit I took this photo while walking the dog, but I did ride past it later in the day. Chilterns on a sunny day, great innit?
It's good to pause and look around to take in what we sometimes take for granted - 'tis a wonderful thing!Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
