What a way to spend my 45th birthday

I hired a tandem with Tricky Dicky and cycled around Xi'an city wall. Yes the cranks are independent of each other.

That's brilliant. Do you catch each others feet or are they spaced far enough apart?

They're spaced far enough apart not to clash and the way it works is a (non-fixie) sprocket on each side of the wheel so we're both free to pedal or coast as we choose.

Because you each power one side of the wheel, if you pedal, do you go left, and if he pedals, do you go right?

Excuse he crappy image quality - taken on an iPhone from a distance in the pouring rain! Not todays ride, but this is is Dungeness B from a distance on Sunday night - very eerie sight in the middle of the marshes in total darkness....

Such lovely weather today! 20 degs C and views of the French Alps.

Came across a lot of flooding on this morning's ride, ended up having to cycle through this, was around 2 foot deep in the middle. Was quite fun in an odd way, very cold feet for the rest of the journey though!

It's a bit wet in Cheshire too!

I didn't think this would be deep. I was wrong... and to make it worse the route I was on included going over a very busy road with only one possible crossing point so I had to ride through the flood again later to get home :roll:



This is a beautiful little chocolate box village called Great Budworth

Meanwhile on the other side of the world, blistering heat and blue skys abound so myself and a few mates went for a ride on our retrobikes at our local trails.







Its true what they say about mad dogs and englishmen.. we had the whole place to ourselves haha
