Cheers guys, in fairness YJ if I hadn't seen the green in the flesh in the shop I don't know if I'd have been brave enough to buy it unseen! They also had the red in too which really 'pops' in the flesh!

I also had wheels and tyres in mind, I have Fulcrum Racing 5s and Conti GP4000SIIs on my Dawes but having put some miles on her I'm perfectly happy with the Bontragers! smile

Multiple puncture on mine today, BB. At least 8 perforations, all little slits in pairs! I was on a gravel Strava segment, steaming along at about 32mph, looking for a KOM time, when there was an almighty twang, which I took to be the rock I hit getting fired out the side by the wheel, then that floaty, uncontrolled feeling as wheel rolls from side to side over the now floppy tyre, inflicting the additional 'snakebites' to the initial one. I've been mostly happy with the 'stock' tyres too, but today, while changing the tube, I noticed that the contact patch area is very flattened on the rear, so after 2,000 miles the Bontrager tyres might be due a change. Some knock-on effects to the shifting efficiency as well, and I really ought to check that the rim isn't out of true, and all the spokes are still OK. That'll teach me to take such a nice bike away from the tarmac, eh?

Braver? That's a point for debate. What I most certainly am is far more stoopid than you, and most other folk for that matter... wink

Oh, and the Strava mileage so far for the Emonda is 1,999.9 miles. I kid you not, I'm 0.9 of a mile short of being able to honestly say I've covered 2k miles on it!

Trek out NW from The New Forest yesterday as far as the Ox Drove and back. Great weather, quiet trails and some fun single track

Little overgrown on places

Taken a pic of the road bike here, never thought I'd get out this far on knobblies

Great morning out

This morning's commute. (Wasn't sure which thread to put this in TBH!) Don't normally get time or change to cycle - need vehicle - so it is nice when it happens, especially given the route.

Towards the end of my ride I came across a cycle speedway race - Great Britain vs Australia, we beat them on the bikes too!

Is that a Haas mill in the background there?

A few photos from yesterday's ride - the Convict 100 www.convict100.com.au

Start line at 0630 - foggy and 4C - was not looking inviting...

...but a couple of hours later, looking good...

Trails were mainly smooth firetrail, so not exactly suited to a FS26 but it was a bike ride biggrin

the climbs were typical evil firetrail climbs - straight up, but the views with the blue skies provided a welcome distraction from the burning thighs...

And, it being Australia, the race not only started and finished at a pub, but was also sponsored by a brewery - in this case, my local, the 4 Pines, who also gave all finishers a bottle of Kolsch...
