A few photos from yesterday's ride - the Convict 100 www.convict100.com.au

Start line at 0630 - foggy and 4C - was not looking inviting...

...but a couple of hours later, looking good...

Trails were mainly smooth firetrail, so not exactly suited to a FS26 but it was a bike ride biggrin

the climbs were typical evil firetrail climbs - straight up, but the views with the blue skies provided a welcome distraction from the burning thighs...

And, it being Australia, the race not only started and finished at a pub, but was also sponsored by a brewery - in this case, my local, the 4 Pines, who also gave all finishers a bottle of Kolsch...

Looks like to need a CX bike for that... you'd beast everyone!

Trip to the beach with the younger lad yesterday, including the last couple miles of the SDW along the top of the Downs, pictured.

Had a week in a lovely cottage near Stratford-upon-Avon, managed to find time to have a nice 30 mile blast around the villages between Stratford and Evesham, used the Greenway cycle path on the way back to avoid a busy main road. Bike was great on the gravel even though it has 23mm slicks on smile Pretty flat but did find quite a big hill up to Hidcote, with a great 45mph descent down the other side.

1st time on a very old mountain bike, which began my love of cycling all over again as an adult. I love my road bike, but today was pure muddy fun

Top of Honister just after 0900 today, knocked a couple of minutes off my time up there. Amazing how much difference a new bike and bigger rear cassette makes!
