Greetings from Gran Canaria, fellow PHers!
The mountain roads are perfect for road bike training. Although its silly hot (up to 40 degrees). The highest point is 1.950m above sea level. Bike of choice is a rental Cannondale Synapse Disc. Good amount of flex on rougher roads. Ultegra Disc brakes are great for the descents. However, they make a grinding sound under breaking and one brake lever is rattling (read that in a review too, seems to be a "feature"). So long!

Went on a little 17 mile xc hack to see this lady for the last time, also gave Yellowjack the fright of his life!
I was on Ickwell Green. Great turn out with a little car display too. Was going to go on bikes but changed at last minute. Glad I did as there was some atrocious driving Gretchen said:
Thank you.
Ahh. I grew up in GS. Live along the road now.
Banbury, Wroxton, North Newington, Broughton, and out today
There's a road I've ridden west of the slaughters, north east of Cleeve (I think), a longish climb really constant gradient, winds left right left right left right up a hill for maybe 2km, trying to find it on maps for next time I'm up that way. Any clues?Ahh. I grew up in GS. Live along the road now.

Hello!
What a lovely day, today! Excellent weather and a brilliant little air show. Apart from the Vulcan, my biggest treat of the day was seeing 'Grovesnor House', the DH88 Comet, displaying as I rode toward the show. I thought I'd missed my chance, but she was up with the Percival Mew Gull as a pair, then they split. The Comet must have gone out to hold, because she was back to solo after the Gull finished, and I was all arrived and comfortable by then.
Nice to meet you, CD. I'd post up a few of my photos, but this old laptop doesn't have a memory card slot, and I can't find the right cable to plug directly into the camera. Might have to wait until the PC comes back from the repair shop.
Oh, and leaving when we did, I didn't think the traffic was too bad. There was a queue of about 50 or 60 (ish) cars, which I passed easily, waiting at the A1 roundabout, but once into Biggleswade and beyond, it was dead quiet on the roads out to Wimpole Hall.
From a little ride before a client meeting Friday...
Halfway round the course, I was on my own - marvellous
View across to the client's office - nice to wave
Was muddier than I thought it would be, which was a bonus...
Then, from today's trip up to Ourimbah State Forest - my favourite trail. Left home at 5.30 as it was predicted to be 35C today, and the humidity at Ourimbah can be stifling - was just topping 28C when we left at 10.30.
Behind the bike is the roll-over - its a reasonably sharp angle...
The lower end of the course is fantastic switchback singletrack through the trees that lets you get into the groove - called The Graveyard...
Ride finished early as the chain slipped over the top of the cassette, mangling 7 spokes and snapping 2 others. Very gentle 5km ride out - saved the wheel and the rear mech. Fortunately have a spare rear wheel ready to roll, so will be out again tomorrow.

Did the Ride of the falling leaves yesterday (110km), there weren't many fallen leaves tbh. http://www.dulwichparagon.com/news-events/latest/r...
The weather was perfect, hardly any wind and a nice temperature for cycling.
Really glad I used my gravel bike as some of the roads were shocking, kept on getting held up (especially on the downhill sections) by people trying to preserve their carbon tubs on the potholed gravel strewn single track roads that comprised about a quarter of the route.
First trip to Wales, a quick overnighter.
On the way stopped at Cwmcarn, got drenched! Then along to Afan with time for a lap of Penhydd.
Up with a fantastic breakfast at Afan Lodge, then rode the W2 epic trail which is 44km and combines The Wall with Whites Level.
The Whites Level climb after lunch is just incredible. Over 5km of steep technical rock strewn battling. In full on sun we were baking! Yes, in Wales in October. The descents too are fun and technical.
I can't recommend Afan enough and will be back regularly I'm sure.
Flying the PH jersey on top of The Wall climb in the morning.

Took a cheeky half day in the sunshine for a little cruise on the Raleigh 10 Speed, it was nice just to ride without worrying about HR, cadence or average speeds...

Not necessarily a photo, but a video from today's hill climb on White Lane organised by Bec CC. I think a few people did Catford and Bec's in the same day!
