Took my brand spanking new DH bike to the woods for a first test and to ensure I had screwed everything together correctly. Chap down there taking pics of some of the riders - ended up being goaded into jumping off stuff. Got some great pics though. Bike was pretty good for a first ride out.

Actual photographs, actually taken today - just for a change!
This was lovely. Outside a garage fairly early in my ride, it looked spot on. Probably better now than when it was first built. I think it looks fabulous in yellow, too.
The fabulous church behind this gate was difficult to photograph, due to large trees and a high hedge all round...
...but I had a go anyway.
First glimpse of Combe Gibbet - I was going up that bad boy in a few minutes time.
This was in the North Wessex Downs AONB, and the temptation to push further west was difficult to resist. But I'll save that for another time.
A closer look at Combe Gibbet, before the climb begins in earnest. No 25 in the "100 Greatest Climbs" book, and I'm happy to have chalked that one off the list, albeit inadvertantly. I created a route called "Walbury Hill 100" not realising that The Gibbet was right next door.
The Merville Battery memorial. The paras rehearsed their pre-D-Day Merville Battery assault in the valley below this spot. Absolutely awesome views from the top too.
Hello Ewe! By now I had climbed Combe Gibbet, and photography had cost me nearly two minutes on the Strava segment time. A perfect excuse for a return visit and a PR next time! My next section was going to be the wiggly Byway snaking it's way over Walbury Hill at the top right of the photo.
Atmospheric snap of the (road) bike leaning on the Gibbet itself. I didn't 'alf get some funny looks in roadie Lycra on a carbon fibre road bike hauling my fat carcass up the flinty Byway. Fortunately, no issues with grip nor any punctures. Phew!
That flinty, rocky Byway surface, on the way up to Walbury Hill. Tough going on a road bike, I needed to concentrate hard on picking decent lines, and plan further ahead than I normally would. All good in the end though.
More Ecclesiastical architecture. I'm not a big fan of being in church, but these rural churches are what really makes the British countryside that bit more special. There were far more on the route, but I tried to restrict the snap-stops to the prettiest of them.
Last one for this post. Just a random shot over a field of Oilseed Rape already in flower. Simply because I needed a wee rest before pushing on up a rather cheeky, unexpected climb.
All shots taken today on this ride... https://www.strava.com/activities/559425213 ...the April installment of my "Century Every Month For A Year" personal challenge. I'd left it late in the month (again) but it's done now, and the challenge is still on track.

Final leg of the Sandstone Way
It looks glorious doesn't it? You can't photograph wind!
We just cycled from Holy Island to Berwick on Tweed and then back on the next day.
The wind in our faces on Monday was wild. Coming back was like riding an electric bike (I imagine). Wind, snow and hail on our backs blasted us along.
I will be back to do the full Sandstone Way or Coast and Castles route ( or both! ) later this year.

Very awesome Edited by anonymous-user on Monday 25th April 14:52
I really need to get myself on a skills course, I've got a bike that far, far outweighs my abilities.
