If it rides anything like my old Peugeot it will be well worth the effort...steel is real and super smooth...albeit a tad on the heavy side
Hmmm...would be a major effort getting it rideable again, hasn't been ridden for over 5 years and I wasn't great at looking after them back then. It did do a lot of miles, I always thought I'd need a new crankset if I ever tried to get it going again.

Did 70 odd km round the Lake District as part of a training run for this fast approaching c2c in a day. Did the Hardknott pass! What an awful hill to cycle up. Had to stop twice to get my breath back. Didn't walk any of it though.

It's a beast of a hill, the descent makes your hands ache a bit too!

My neck and shoulders cramped up from all the braking! Could have done with the mtb hydraulic disc brakes. Oh and it's big granny gear for going up whilst I'm at it.

It never looks particularly steep in photographs for some reason (I'm aware that it is, in fact, ridiculously bloody steep!)

Did you carry on over and drop down Wrynose? Once past the daft steep bit that was a hoot and very fast and bumpy!

The whole experience would have been nicer on a mountain bike! biggrin

I did yeah. Not sure if going the other way is harder(?) as we went by a load of cyclists walking it! Wrynoes seems to go straight up rather than have lots of switchbacks. Also had to pull over to let a Defender up that was towing a huge sheep laden trailer. Got a huge blast of heat and diesel fumes as it trundled past. Mad place.

Another lovely day in Sussex although the mist and cold at home saw me start in 2 base layers and a long sleeve jersey, felt like February. Over the top of the Bostal and I was warm from the climb and the sun making an appearance -

This is looking down into Steyning Bowl from the Bostal Road.

I think the Downs and wind were trapping the clouds low down, this is as I descend towards the A24.

Coming home I tried a different route. On Strava, Barns Farm Hill is a mean climb; this route started on a bridleway called Barns Farm Lane, which is stunning. The A283 is less than a mile from here, going in the same direction, and really unpleasant to ride along. I've only been doing that for 4 years!

It's one of the options - the A283 I refer to is the shortest, but it is really narrow and you get so many close passes it's not worth it. There are some lovely country roads too so you the road routes are almost as good as mtb.

Did I mention I went toooo fast down one of the bumpy flinty descents, punctured, and then my pump seemed to not want to inflate the tyre so it took an extreme amount of pumps to get a rideable pressure in the tyre. I then packed all the kit away and by the time I was ready to ride off, the bleedin thing was flat again. Agh!

All my rides start and finish in Central London so I look at this stuff with very green eyes. I travel out for rides that aren't even as pretty as your commute. What a lovely thing.

Don't. I dream of the day. We could live like kings in much of the country for the price of a small apartment here. I could have a driveway. Maybe even a garage. Ah, perhaps even a shed!
