Entered the Southern XC yesterday as it was local. After the kids had done their races I did the Open category, toasty warm!
Came away with 3rd, just! a crash on the last lap in front of me helped a chasing group close the gap right up for a sprint finish, interesting with a cramped up right calf, ended up sprinting with my right foot pointing downwards!

This is Monarch's Way, near Steyning Bostal. If you're ever in the area, give it a go. It's a laugh-out-loud funny descent; the hill is already steep and long before this point and then it seems to go mental-steep, like a roller-coaster. It's only about 14% but feels a lot more. There's a tricky chicane to negotiate at the bottom and then there's a bit of a gruelling slog up the other side

Any good? I'm moving back to Cheltenham in a few months and I can't wait to have a go.
I'd be chuffed with somewhere like it on my door step, it's very jumpy runs are short 1km to 1.6km they are all surfaced with crushed rock, blue, red and black trails which I don't think are typical of most trail centres as other than the size of the jumps not a lot of difference in tracks, the Reds rougher than the black for example, blue smoother than both but the black you'd need lots of speed and loads of commitment to make the not high but very long jump at the end. The last jump on the red is also massive by most people's standards a 24ft double although before that there there is a 25ft double but that seems easier as you are not coming straight out of a jump before hand and it's not as high. On the day i was there all day (i did 14 uplifted runs) I only saw one person do the last red jump and no one do the last black.Edited by Herman Toothrot on Wednesday 8th June 20:16
Working in Belgium this week, and as I have a van for shifting a load of stuff, I might as well take my bike over.
So, off to Zolder for their evening open track sessions. Yesterday was a washout and the session was cancelled (I wouldn't have ridden anyway) but today was glorious. 3 Euros for a day pass. UK circuits could learn a thing or two from these chaps.
Not the best selfie ever, trying to get the jersey and the Zolder sign in the same picture.

Grand day out last week at BPW:
Actually rode reasonably well for a change, but had a silly lie down on one berm when a large rock moved out from under my front wheel and took me off (rock was about 2foot round!!)
As it has been super dry and dusty the trails were pretty slippy in places, and even had some braking bumps appearing, which is very un-usual for BPW....

Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi has free entry on a Tuesday night were you can cycle the full gp circuit and walk / jog / run / roller blade / skateboard / push a pushchair on the side of the track. The Dubai Autodrome is free on a Wednesday night but only on the short 2.5km club circuit. So, off to Zolder for their evening open track sessions.
