Found this wreck whilst out on a ride, amazing to find it without any smashed windows after sitting here for many years -

Three years old and he's already racing, complete with 'game face'. I predict medals at the 2032 Olympic Games!

Enough of that boating malarkey, back on the bike. Rode up from Lettomanopello to Passo Lanciano, long hard grind in the heat. The guard rail was expanding in the sun, making weird noise. More than once, it sounded like an old man coughing, just the other side...I was really struggling but I still looked over the edge, nervously

Very cool! I'll need to find what age kids can start at my local cycle speedway track!

He started a week after his 3rd birthday on a balance bike, 3 weeks later he was on a little 12" bike but couldn't keep up so just 2 months after starting he is on a 16" Hoy bonaly and loving it! The guys at Kesgrave Panthers (Ipswich) are really good and love helping the little ones get into it, they have four 3 year olds now.

Managed to get the chance to give the CX a good road run today, surprised that it wasn't much slower than a road bike. 1x11 was a bit of a challenge when we hit the hills but overall average speed was not down much

How come it was a challenge ?

I thought the extra rear gears pretty much worked out the same as having a twin front ring.

It's running on 42T front with 11T-28 on the rear instead of my usual 34T front 12T-30 rear so it's missing the granny gears for climbing, I will just need to apply rule #5

Don't usually have the GoPro on the bike, but had a near miss on yesterdays commute, and decided to put it on today - logic being, anytime I do have it on, I have an incident-free ride! Anyway, to and from work today:

Also, I love it when institutions use internet memes to try and be down with the kids, and end up looking stupid. I noticed this advert for Bracknell & Wokingham College today, using the "Ermahgerd" meme. This originated as a joke about how someone with a speech impediment might say "oh my god". Not that I'm in the least "PC", but would love to be there if the Colleges "diversity & inclusion" officer realised this biggrin

Well done.

Which route? We did it Saturday in less than 15m visibility above Reynard, through the clouds. Yours looks warm, we were shivering, it was freezing and descending in the wet with the bike shaking from us shivering was entertaining,

Bedouin route for us, descent through to Sault for lunch.

Straight up from Bedoin. We drove from Lyon so didn't start til 10am when the sun was cracking the flags. My farming reckoned 25-28c for the ride. Thankfully there was no wind but no cloud.

I just want to go back and try the other two routes!

Same here, reference the other routes. Not sure we'd have faired so well in the heat, but up to Reynard was low 20's, but after was incredible riding through the cloud as water latched onto your arm hairs and you couldn't see anything. We even struggled to spot the Simpson memorial it was that bad, cleared a little on the descent for our stop.

Sault Route looked easier to ascend than Bedoin, but maybe next time. I did it with a mate who also lives in the Netherlands, our first HC climb and the Netherlands wasn't exactly the best training for 21kms of 7.5%!
