Has anybody else ever done this, or entering this year?

I took part in the a cycle event at the circuit last year and it was great fun.
We have a team of 4 entering, probably an hour on, hour off style of tactic.

I've been looking at a few of those. Brands, Thruxton, Goodwood, LM, Nurburgring.

Sounds fun but I need more cycling mates!

Brands would be a much better venue IMO!

I saw this the other night on the British Cycling website, I'm going solo and I'm targetting 400kms (250 miles) as it seems like a nice safe environment to do something daft like that. I like the idea of going long distances but dont fancy one of those 400km Audaxs on the road just in case I start to wobble or something. The plan would be to go for as long as possible at first, probably 125-150 miles, get some sleep and some food, then do two x 50 mile stints but that depends on the start time which I cant find at the moment.

I Cant decide what bike to use though, the regular road bike seems like the best bet given its comfy but a nice fixed gear TT bike also seems like a good giggle, its pretty flat so it shouldnt be too much of a drama though I have thought about just going up to a 55t chainring rather than push the cadence up...

Anyone know if there is anything similar at Oulton Park as it's just down the road from me?

They used to do the cycle-athon a few years ago because I entered a few time when I was in scouts. No idea if they still run it though, not heard about it for ages

I quite fancied the look of this and am seeing if I can get a charity place through Mission Motorsport. If I do, I'll probably have a go at a solo effort with a target of 200+ miles.

Why on earth would you start a 24-hour race at 9am? Most irregular.

I didn't doubt you, I just think that 24-hour races should start at a gentlemanly time in the afternoon, to allow for hangover to recede, and a massage from the soigneur.

Not 24hour races but 1.5 hour mid week races starting 7pm may to July, for about £10 a race it's with the LVRC,
I'm hoping to have a go myself :-)

arse, didnt know that, thats a real pain in the backside.... I was hoping it would be noon or something so there is enough time for a good hour or two of faffage in the morning. at least that means that you start early, crack opn through the day and can have loads of miles in the bank before its dark unlike if you started at 1400 or something... also means hotel required for the night before etc....

That sounds fun. Do they have different ability groups, I don't mind being last but would prefer not to be lapped too many times biggrin

This one is at Rockingham. Much cheaper but as it's a charity event some sponsorship would need to be raised.
