Looks like I'm in too...eeek!!! Need to get my lazy butt out riding and build up the miles. Luckily I was planning to ride Alpe D'Huez and Ventoux in September so this will be great training.
Yep...Alpe D'Box Hill will see you in fine form hehe

Sounds like a great trip...one I'll make at some point!

Also signed up to ride for BHF. I was going to raise charity for a Stroke or Heart charity anyway for personal reasons, so fingers crossed I can still get a place.

For sure wanted to do something similar back in 2011 but torn my ACL skiing 3 months before I was due to go frown

I've just checked out the route and as I live in Hackney, the start is only 5mins away...fantastic.

I did the BHF Bath to Bournemouth the year before last, 80 miles, a couple of hills but nothing too terrible and a really nice route. Might do it again this year......

Oh, and the L2B which was fun, crowded but fun!

Perhaps we should have some sort of run out for the rejects? Same day? Start in Central London given we were all going to be there then anyway?

We could spend the 45 quid (or whatever the fee was) on biscuits and energy drinks.

(I feel really uncomfortable doing it for charity - Feel like I'm getting others to fund my hobby.)

Cancelled. Balls!

And I went on an 85km ride taking in Boxhill today in expectation of getting through. I bet half the people accepted won't even finish.

That's the annoying thing for me too, I bet that a lot of people won't finish!!

I'm going to take some advice on 1 key issue and if all think it's still a good idea I'm signing up for a charity... now about that key issue:

My wife is due with our 1st born on the 24th-26th July so I'll likely have a 1+ week old when pedaling around London. She says (or potentially her hormones say) "go for it" but I'm not sure either of us appreciate the impact this will have and whether I'll actually want to spend 6+ hours on a bicycle... will speak to a few friends who are parents to get their perspective and make a call from their advice.

Yes, quite a few of the tweets from people who've got in seem to be from people who, lets just say, don't look like cyclists.

I think people have just seen it like the London marathon...something to train towards.

Gutted!!

It wasn't the ride I was most looking forward too, it was the second one.

I recommend the Dunwich Dynamo...who needs support and closed roads.
