I should point out that I wasn't ACTUALLY shaking with rage at the time (just a fairly crap camera on my phone). In fact I wasn't anywhere close to rage.
What you on about lad?

I would suspect that someone dressed like that with a camera would either be an incredibly unsafe cyclist (why else would they need that) or would provoke incidents. If you look on you tube there are plenty of videos of a cyclist (i cant remember the channel) moaning about cars being too close and mouthing off, when in the majority of cases they have done very little, if nothing wrong.

Wearing something like that, and similarly the horsey vests, displays a certain mentality, normally associated with poor road manners and a nasty complex. Whats wrong with just a high-vis vest?

If the chap in the Sierra that kind of looked like a cop car to a blind moron got done for impersonating cops, then so should people wearing these bibs.

I am sorry but my rage is not to shaking point yet... I'll try and come back later and rage harder biggrin

I'd like to thank all those who are concerned at my welfare. I should point out that I wasn't ACTUALLY shaking with rage at the time (just a fairly crap camera on my phone). In fact I wasn't anywhere close to rage. Just slightly irked at his silly vest.

Carry on.
Carry on? Far too late chum.

He is dressed like a tool, but if he wasnt afraid for his life, then he probably wouldnt be.

Policemen dont seem to get knocked off their motorcycles, but other motorcyclists are all over like skittles!

Better training and better riding cant account for the massive disparity.

i'd have no problem with those tops being illegal. it's clearly intended to mimic a police one as closely as possible.

Are you Jeremy Clarkson? No, thought not.

Why do people insist on continuing with these lainful Clarkson-isms?

Not hurting anyone

Looks less of a dick than the guy they had on the telly last night talking about the M1 crash yesterday. Who thought a high visibility baseball cap was a great idea? Who thought that looks good? Who thought that wearing a massive hi vis jacket meant you didn't quite stand out enough against the backdrop of a grey motorway? Stupid.

if someone went to the lengths of 'jam sandwiching' their car, putting non working blue lights on the roof, and wrote the word POLITE on it too, what would people think?

high vis, yes. 'POLITE' high viz is a little naughty. all in my opinion, of course.

I don't understand the hate of "Polite" jackets. I guess that these evolved out of necessity, as cyclists and horse riders felt that people weren't slowing down enough, and if drivers really do give more respect to a Police cycle/horse, who can blame people for using them?

If what you say is true you should be thanking them for giving you fair warning that they need to be given a wide berth.

Bit like HATO vehicles; people panic because they think they've been doing something wrong, realise its not a real policeman, and then get annoyed cos they've 5hit their kecks without needing to.....

But if you're not driving like a tt, where's the problem?

Just treat everyone on the road how you'd like to be treated yourself - whether they are on a bike, on a horse, in a supercar or driving an MPV. It's what most of us do everyday at work, in the pub, or when walking down the high street. I don't see why so many people on PH think they need to get angry about things which are just not worth getting angry about?
