Worst case scenario I can stop and manually put the chain on the small ring, but I've discovered that if I shift up to the smallest sprocket at the back then I can sometimes access the little ring. It's like Russian Roulette though as I'm normally going up something steep at the time and when it doesn't work you're pretty screwed. It'll all work out, I'm sure.

If all else fails, keep it on the big ring and apply Rule 5, eh?
