Best year since I started cycling again with a paltry 1500 miles. I was aiming for 2K this year but it didn’t happen.

Day to day goals:
Get a proper commuting bike so I don’t keep having to fix and fiddle with my road bike. Unless it’s not possible due to work or social commitments – cycle at least 3.5 days per week per month. I’d also like to combine that with getting up earlier and taking a longer more scenic way into work. I can stretch it out in the evening but it rarely happens after a long day in the office.

Non-comuting goals.
A friend has signed up for the Etape, I’m fked if I’m going to do that but join him for some of his training rides, even if it’s just the schlep back into London.
There’s talk of cycling to Le Mans, I’d need to be in good shape for that.
I think I’d do the Dynamo again. Ideally I’d like to do a couple of other centuries throughout the year. Want to do a 50+ at least every other weekend and 100+ at least once a quarter.

In summary, in 2014 I need to get to bed earlier, get out of bed earlier and eat & drink less. Wu-hoo.

I have only got a few :

1 All time fastest list for 10 (sub 19 min) and 25 miles (sub 50 min). (Which may result in a club record or two)
2. Top 15 (stretch goal of top 10) at national 10 mile champs - probably a tough one
3. Win a national B road race/and be at the sharp end in the majority I enter
4. Pending how the races go in first part of the season I may push on and try to get my elite license
5. Try to improve placings in East Surrey Hardriders and Redhill 18 top 5 for both ideally and do a 19 min time on G10/42 (club ten course, current best 20.18) which I don't think many have ever done, Hutch and Ben Instone, not sure of others...

Looking to improve on this year really.

1. Podium at the London Singlespeed Championship.
2. Top 10 at the Torq In Your Sleep 12h solo.
3. Top 10 Bontrager TwentyFour12 Torchbearer Solo.
4. 2x Sub 11 hour South Downs Way rides, once in each direction, with a view to doing a sub 24h double the following year eek

They all should be do-able, just need to get my finger out and keep the training going through the winter.

How old are you, OkGo? Pretty impressive I hope you do well.

Suspect you'll be racing against a few lads I know this year, maybe me in one or two if I cba travelling that far.

26.

I wish I'd started earlier ha. Yeh probably will, though always tough racing in the bigger races against the full time lads. NTFO team are all out in Majorca banging out 4 hours a day, difficult to even be on the same page when you have a job, but I am trying, I got a coach recently to make the most of the hours I can commit, and I must say its helping me buckle down and do the things I know I need to do.

Yeh, I'm the same. I've just gone 21 though so not too old but wish I'd started at 14/15 instead of 20.

A coach will help massively I think. Focussing your time on what you need to do rather than just riding will help 100%.

Lose weight. I took 3 months off upper body training over the summer in an attempt to bulk down a bit and lost bugger all. I should be pleased, but I wasn't smile

This should in turn mean I can set some pb's on my local routes. Only got around 3-4k on the bike this year so will aim to improve on that too.

Sadly, I haven't yet given any thought to plans/goals for 2014, because 2013 isn't finished with.

If pushed to make some up on the spot, maybe...

1. Ride at least once every week (failing that, ride at least 100 miles every month).

2. Finish 2014 with more miles ridden than 2013

3. Get a job, so I can afford to replace my GT Avalanche with something a little more 'high-end' for off road riding.

4. Break through my 15mph-ish average speed plateau, and start putting in some decent times on the roads.

5. Same every year - "this year I'll enter an organised event" - never do though rolleyes

First thing is a month off in the New Year for surgery on my right leg varicosity, then hard at it before a few early sportives and MTB challenges, followed by the Yorkshire Summer Cyclocross Series. Also hoping to do the Nutcracker MTB Series of races, followed by a time under 4 hours 20 minutes in the Three Peaks cyclocross, and a top twenty finish in the Yorkshire Cyclocross Winter Series. All that is left then is a few bears on New Years Eve.

And maybe not to spend as much money on gear.

I've entered the Peterborough 100 as it's being ridden on the thirtieth anniversary of the weekend I almost lost a leg in a motorbike accident.

I'm really really looking forward to it biggrin

Do a 100 miler and at a stretch a Triathlon of some sort. Failing that I might eat some more pies and continue with my mediocre existence.

Complete the ABCC coaching course
Do level 1 BC coaching course
Create the perfect flapjack recipe for cyclists
Get a gold standard time in a 100 mile sportive
Finish in the bunch at a Castle Combe crit race
Enjoy my cycling and ride 2014 miles

But most of all be KOM on Hellfire Pass at the PH cycling weekend!

I'm working towards a Gold time at La Marmotte. I was about 30 minutes outside the gold standard last year, so it should be easy enough if I stay focused through winter.

Also want to get closer to the magic 20mph average and get a KOM on a contested segment! I have a few top 10's and I think 6th is my current best..

In no particular order for me.

Get back to my 17 mph average speed as I had at uni. Thats double what I do at present, and as a smoker.

Stop smoking.

Maybe do an event.

Get to morzine or somewhere similar
