That is staggeringly good value. I might even dabble myself.

Bike has been delayed at customs unfortunately - shame as I'm off work from Wednesday through Friday so hoped to get out on it! Maybe have it by next Saturday.

Just found your thread, I am looking to get a MTB for the same sort of budget and am looking at a Scott Aspect 640. From what I can see you can't go fast wrong with a Scott.

Happy riding!

I'm in a similar quandary and would appreciate some advice.

Do I go for this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

Or is this a better bet? http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?show=508...

I realise there is a price difference, and the Scott is at the top end of my budget, but I don't know enough to know if there is a massive difference between the 2 (and I'm not sure about the Carrera as only halfords seem to sell them).

Thanks.

The Scott is the better bike, but if you can stretch to that then the higher Carrera models are better value - Vulcan at £360 and Kraken at £450 both have hydraulic brakes and better fork.

As others have said, get over to Paulscycles and look through the offers. http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m1b0s2p4927/GIANT-TAL...

Bike collected today and first trip out - a wee 7km ride up to some windmills and a decent 25 mph decent.

Love it.
