We're better at cycling than web design, truth be told. You can see how much there is there tho!

I know what you mean, I have been invited to a local club near me, although they are a good bunch of blokes (I know them through a friend of a friend etc) I just need to man up and stop being such a girl about it all. It's very easy to find excuses though isn't it. Currently need my chain replacing.. My saddle hurts like a bh after an hour..

That list could go on.

I live in Wilmslow so not to far away, what are the MTB rides like? I've only just started back cycling again after a 10 year gap but wouldn't mind going on a club ride as long as it isn't too hardcore!

I've not been on one, but my understaning is they're like the social road rides rules wise - everyone regroups at the top, you go downt he hill as fast / slow as you like, climb next hill and pause etc.

I've chatted to the mtb lads quite a bit because the meet point / time is the same as the sat road ride - they all tell me they're a lot more sane than the white nancy boys (the bollington mtb club, not some bunch of gayers).
I did a ride with the nancys and they nearly killed me, but i cought the road bug very soon after so my mtb experience is low.

I'm in the same town as you and other than macc forrest i don't know of any decent off road routes - round the airport is a laugh if it's muddy enough, but everywhere is really gared for 2 feet not 2 wheels...

Yeah there isn't much decent off road around here, I tend to go round the airport a fair bit, other than that I have just started working my way around the trails near the edge which are reasonable.

I'm the opposite, tried a bit of road riding and hated it, far too many cars around! all my routes aim to be on as few roads as possible.

I will take a look at the Macc Wheelers schedule for the MTB meets and see if I can sort something out as I quite enjoy group rides.

This is a decent loop round Alderley Edge if you ever want to dust the MTB off: http://www.strava.com/activities/131183662
