Just cut to the chase and get the Cento 1. http://wilierbikes.co.uk/2014/product.php/285/1/ce...

It has the fancy wheels, the Di2 and it's at the sweet spot for price/performance at around £4k.
WTF???? "It has the fancy wheels" confused

Specification lists Shimano RS21 wheels. Merlin Cycles will send you a pair of those for £125. Hardly 'fancy' wheels?
You realise it's a Dizee thread, right?

The 2013 Gran Turismo and 2014 GTR is a strange one, they are essentially the same frame but the specs have changed quite a bit, I'm not sure if the construction has changed or jus the spec/paintwork.

2013 Ultegra was £3k, 2014 is £1800.

I'm just glad I got mine in the end of year sales!

Its quite easy to see how they cut costs on the 2014 model. Its mickey mouse components and 0.00 R&D spend (or already amortised).

For the budget, he's better off spending on a good wheelset (not some 500 quid bling but "proper" wheelset), holiday or coach. If you are falling out of love with cycling, the Wilier won't re-ignite it (step backwoods?).

Getting faster (proper aero wheels + hubs or a coach), or a positive cycling experience (holiday); will re-iginite the passion.

If anyone was wondering -

Total balls up on behalf of the supplier (apparently).

No bike when promised, never delivered, and hence no test ride. Complete joke.

As such I have lost interest and instead will spend £20 on a de grease and clean up.

Good work Wilier :-)

I'm sticking to the better wheels for the De Rosa idea. Just got to find some money form somewhere now.
