Who has had their bike the longest?
Discussion
Was chatting to my dad about my old Giant Terrago after another decent ride on it today.
We worked out that I've had it more than half my life (now aged 28!)
I bought it new in 1999 and apart from times when I've lived abroad, it has been used pretty regularly since.
I make it about 15 years with the same bike and getting on for 10,000 miles I would guess.
I'm sure you guys can make my bike look barely run-in and positively brand spanking new though...
Oldest bike I've ridden is my uncle's hybrid from 1988 which he has had since new as well!

Had my "mountain bike" (now only for going into town safe to leave with cheap lock crap bike) since 1989, although in hindsight its a offroad modded hybrid thing really. Heavy Steel frame, chrome bullnose handlebars, 10sp, massively wide cantilever brakes and lovely 2" wide what where once chrome rims... best of all was the name, still stickered onto the top tube- "Rough Rider" :-)
I still have my 1992 TREK 930 Single Track - although I don't think there is much original left on it except for the bars, stem, forks. All the groupset has been 'upgraded' - still has Deore DX thumb-shifters though. Needs another rear wheel at the moment, as the braking surfaces have worn down for a second time. Mind you I have not used it for about ten years.....
My parents still have my 1986 Raleigh Sprint - I have not seen it for years but I am assured it is still stored above the garage.....

Disclaimer!
This is NOT my bike. Nor is it anything to do with my family, but...
A true piece of Motoring History and very much worthy of PistonHeads. A bicycle built by William Morris (Lord Nuffield himself!) in 1909, before he moved onto motorcycles, and then founded the Morris Motors company. This bicycle was in the same family for 89 Years!
I neglected to get a close up of the discrete Veteran Cycle Club sticker on the top of the downtube.
On display in Nuffield Place, former home of Lord and Lady Nuffield, now in the hands of the National Trust, who make better cakes than Mr Kipling
