Signed up for coast to coast in a day for the second year as it was such an amazing event. Looking for another epic route in Scotland or wales or something different like a night ride.

The Chain Reaction Big Italian Bike Ride, my first sportive, replicates stage 2 of the Giro from Belfast. Just the 140 miles/225km to do on the 4th May, 6 days before the pros do it for real

Should be a good day out.

This years main event in 3 weekends time is to do the first two stages of this years Tour. Looking really forward to it, going up with a couple of blokes from work, and we're joining a load more colleagues up there. All to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Signed up for a few different Sportives, none of which I am dreading (yet).....

Big one for me is the first 3 days of this ride www.ride4care.com - 320-ish miles in 3 days starting this Thursday. Paul Sampson and Darren Kenny I am riding with will be doing the full 1,700 miles in 17 days.......ouch....!

Not many for me.

I did the New Forest Sportive last weekend.

Also signed up for the BHF London To Brighton in June and the Wiggle Magnificat in Newbury. More worried about the logistics of the London To Brighton than the actual cycling.

Might do the Wiggle Chilterns Classic in High Wycombe in July. Currently undecided about that.

Not too bad, thanks. I did the 102 mile one. About 6.5 hours. Very tough with 9000ft of climbing. It was a bit deceptive though, since up to the first 50 miles or so I thought it was pretty easy and reckoned I'd be back at base by around 14:00 as I was averaging 21 mph for the first 2 hours. Wrong! Most of the climbing was reserved for the second half with some brutal inclines - 22% at one point! Shame that not much could be made up on the descents as they were mostly strewn with gravel.

Anyhow, I still enjoyed it. A tick in the box for this month at least.

How did you get on? Hope you enjoyed it.

ps Did you have a red jersey? Spotted you, if so, stood by the portaloos around 08:30.

Lots of training still to do.

I did the 100km mid route - 3:37, which I was pleased with for my first event.

I did have a red jacket and was by the loos at 8:30, do we know each other?

I live in the Painswick valley - those brutal climbs are all to familiar!

It was a nice, fast route until that midpoint! But you chucked in a decent time too.

Apologies, that sounded a bit George Michael - I was queuing at the start and saw somebody in a PH jersey. I don't think we've met.

Yep, some properly steep stuff! Frustratingly it wasn't my aerobic ability that gave out, my HR was surprisingly low, but my legs were screaming on some of the ascents.

Sorry for the confusion, wasn't me in a PH jersey.

Like yourself the lungs were good but the legs had started to hurt after the ascent out of Withington.

Happy with my time given it was done on a Alu Cross bike with disc brakes.

Highlight for me was overtaking a guy on an S-Works Venge with Zipp 404's!
