The winter tops I bought 2 years ago for £7 have been some of the best cycling buys Ive ever bought, really comfy and keep me warm yet breathable.

The only slight downside is that stuff changes year on year, I bought another winter top last year and it was much bigger and not so close fitting, so hardly worn

As with the leg warmers, bought some years ago and used them most days through winter, got some last year in the same size and can't pull them up my thigh!!

Quiet in Swindon Aldi today, had loads of everything advertised

Didn't buy much as the stuff I bought years ago has lasted so well.

Bought some socks as they are handy and another jacket, although TBH they are only any good for me under about 7 degrees

Bought the "Premium light " for £7 , after people saying they are Moon Commets, doesn't look much, but worth a punt. BLIMEY, its bright for such a small thing, gonna go back and get another front one later, really lightweight, simple and bright. 2 of those pointed down and a Cree LED £15 ebay light will do me proud on the unlit bridleways/lanes through winter

Went in 'just to look at the shoes...' I want to try a bit of cyclocross this winter so I figured getting a £25 pair of shoes wet and muddy was a better option than splashing out on pricier stuff from the various online outlets etc.?!

£64 later I'm walking out with shoes, lights, gloves, hat, Muc-Off...

Got a merino wool base layer today (long sleeve) not a good fit. Sleeves are tight but short and body is baggy! Gonna get a refund, the gloves at £4.99 seem spot on though.

£64!!!! eek

Rank amateur! wink
I managed to do £74-worth of various garbage in there this afternoon.

1 x pair Windproof Bib-tights @ £29.99
1 x Premium Front Light @ 8.99
2 x Premium Rear Light @8.99 each
1 x Helmet Light @ 2.99
1 x pair Winter Cycling gloves @ 4.99
1 x Waterproof, Windproof Rucksack Cover @ 4.99
1 x bottle of Muc-Off chain lube @ £3.99

First impressions?

The bib tights are so far removed from the last pair I bought from either Aldi or Lidl. Quality looks good, they fit really snugly, and feel very warm indeed. My only worry is comfort, as the pad feels a bit like a nappy on first putting them on. The old ones are too long, too baggy, and wearing thin at the crotch. I just about managed 80 miles in them last night, but was constantly having to *ahem* adjust my gentleman's essentials to prevent rubbing and chafing.

Those (Moon Comet lookie-likie) Premium Lights are mental. Three brightness levels from 'just bright' to 'fog lamp bright' which is verging on weapons grade bright. Plus two levels of steady flashing, and a "wow! Why is everyone I ride past now lying on the floor, foaming at the mouth" strobe mode. Time will tell how waterproof they are, and how robustly they are made, but they look OK so far, and were bought as 'back-up' lights anyway.

The helmet light looks a bit cheap and 'plasticky'. Which I suppose it is. Three modes, 'solid', steady flash, and a rapid strobe which I can't imagine ever wanting to use. Fitting it isn't great using the Velcro™ strap included, but it'll do for now.

Cycling gloves are nowt special. But they claim to be waterproof and breathable, and felt very snug and warm when I put them on. Ditto the rucksack cover. Bought for my son's college commute, I'm hoping it keeps the rain out, and that the bright yellow and reflective finish makes him even easier to see when the clocks go back.

The chain lube I'm not sure about. I'm hoping it's the same as the Muc-Off Wet Lube, but the bottle is a slightly different design and is labelled as "Urban" chain lube.

Fingers crossed now that, come test time, everything preforms as claimed/intended, but even if it doesn't, it was a fraction of the cost of the branded alternatives, so here's hoping!

Bought :

Jacket £17, wore it this morning, v warm. fits well.
Shirt £10.
Bib tights £30
Waterproof socks £12
Reflective LED armband things ( for running) £4

£73 in total sees me kitted up for winter. The equivalent branded items from a cycle shop would have cost a lot more.

It looked to be selling quickly and I got the last of my size in the jackets,I would have liked the red £30 jacket but none were left.

Popped in last night but came out empty handed, might have to go back tonight based on the below comments. Fancied the bib and the lights but decided against it as I'm a fair weather daylight pansie and couldn't believe the lights were actually any good, might take a gamble on them and man up and go out in the cold/dark.
Obviously now when I go back tonight it'll all be sold out......and on a slight tangent why is GT86 over 18's only?

I purchased the premium front light, which seems excellent for the money I have to say (I may pop back for a rear). I also got the lobster style gloves which feel toasty and comfortable. All good smile

Found the last Medium red performance jersey, happy days right? Wrong, got home & it fits my slim 15yr old daughter but not me!
She also got a merino baselayer, sold out in my size.

Popped back tonight, managed to blow £50 hehe
Still had bib tights so gambled on a large, and they seem to fit well, will echo that the pad seems huge but the material seems nice and thick and they fit me nicely.
Got a premium front light but no rears so got a couple of the micros for the back, socks are always good, then the rest of the cash went on biscuits! rotate

I was in the Bretton Peterborough branch at 0810 on Thursday, there were a good eight to ten other people in and rummaging already! The cycling gear is always hugely popular.

(we now have three branches - none of which have enough parking!)

Bought the front and rear premium lights last night. They’re better than I had expected. Good for that sort of money!

I got a premium front light and leg warmers yesterday in the East Grinstead store. Still plenty of stock left in all items as far as I could tell and even a fair amount of the gear from the last cycle event (now reduced). As is the way with Aldi I also came away with an unplanned box kite.

Fiver gloves are great. comfortable and not even a bit cold at 5 degrees, the will make a good match for commuting before its cold enough for the lobsters around zero.
The fluro will hopefully help my visibility too.

popped in today, and a lot of the stuff had gone, (no rear premium lights left) but picked up a £17 jacket, some hi-viz winter gloves, and some gt85, degreaser and muc-off type cleaner.

Having tried the gloves in the house, I can see it needing to be seriously cold before I need them- they feel ridiculously toasty!

Popped into the Gilmerton store later on Saturday afternoon for a look, wasn't expecting much to be left to be honest.

Came out with a winter top, 2 pairs of woolen socks, skull cap, merino long johns and a premium front light.

Man those lights are quite bright for the money, aren't they!

Mrs Chimp is going to head back in tomorrow to see if we can get another to use as a garden light when we are sitting out by the firepit biggrin
