In the past, the nursery manager would at the very least apologised as I was carted off in an ambulance, but she wasn't authorised to do so by company as their insurers didn't like admissions of guilt.
And they don't like those admissions because people might go and sue them for damages. Oh!You moan about us living in an increasingly litigious society and then go and propagate it. 6k because you didn't look where you were going.
why an ambulance for 2 broken fingers?
Were they shoved up your nose at the time?
I'm not moaning about us living in an increasingly litigious society. I'm moaning about a society where people refuse to do the right thing by someone to whom they've caused loss or injury by taking a "sue us or fk off" attitude. Christ knows how much the whole thing actually cost, once you add lawyers' fees on top of the £6k, but the only reason it got to that point was because they weren't prepared to behave decently in the first place, when a token gesture would've made me feel much happier about suffering the results of their utter incompetence.
As for not looking where I was going, unless you've got special see in the dark vision, you would've done exactly the same thing as I did. When the whole thing went to the tribunal thing to figure out a fair level of compensation, the failure to repair the broken light was considered far more of a contributory factor than the fact they'd put the ramp in without telling people.
With regards to the ambulance, what are you suggesting you would've done, covered in blood and unable to drive? The ambulance took me to the local A&E who decided it their capability to operate on, so I then got trundled over to another hospital and kept in overnight for them to pin one of the fingers back together again the following morning.

I have no idea about carbon layup or whether the material is of any use to anyone. Quite simple really and hardly a reason to think anybody is odd. The only odd thing is this forum which is why it has lost so many of it's original contributors. As was correctly pointed out to me recently when I bumped into a certain regular on here, these day's it's just full of dicks.dickxjr x

Nope. I can't see in the dark so I would have taken extra care. If it was that dark I'd have probably got my phone out and used the torch.Y'know, sensible stuff. Not relying on others to warn about obstacles. Not suing them for tripping up. That kind of thing.

I was the third person to trip over the ramp that evening, which was why they'd told one of their employees to stand outside the door and warn people approaching. If she'd hadn't gone back inside, then there wouldn't have been a problem. If the outside light hadn't been broken, there wouldn't have been a problem. If they'd put in a ramp with glow in the dark strips up the side, then there wouldn't have been a problem. If they'd decided to wait until they'd fixed the light before putting in the ramp, then there wouldn't have been a problem.
This is all, however, irrelevant to the main point I was making at the start, which is to say that if the other party's insurers are seemingly ignoring Diz in the hope that he'll forget about it and go away, then nobody should blame him for instructing a solicitor, and if that ends up costing said insurers more money in the long run, then tough st, they were the ones who decided to play it that way.

My K800i had a torch and I didn't trip up all year.
Really? Maybe you could help these K800i owners out on the off chance that they still own their phones and want to use them to light their way back to the point I was making, and which you seem determined to ignore.Kermit power said:

No mention of bloody anywhere in your original post.
Sound like a bit of a drama queen if you ask me

Go and read the rest of the thread if you particularly feel the need to see prior mention of blood. No mention of bloody anywhere in your original post.

Alternatively, if you want to try a practical experiment, you're welcome to try slamming a couple of fingers in a door (slam them in properly, put your full body weight behind it, then wait for someone else to open the door because it's closed enough for the Yale lock to have re-engaged) to see if you can manage to do it without getting lots of blood everywhere.
I guarantee you would not have been driving a car anywhere.

And? Do I really give a st?Do you think people don't talk about you offline? I can assure you they certainly do.
It's funny how I actually manage to lead a normal life, with friends, many of them now cycling friends, who actually converse with me face to face and are able to hold an intellectual conversation about various topics, some of them including cycling! It's only behind the keyboards and shroud of an internet forum I tend to get bizarre, and often just insulting replies. Interesting how I don't have any of these problems when dealing with people face to face.

Have you mentioned to these people in real life that you have trouble getting a shirt off? Or that your car goes faster with the seats down?
