An X-ray is the only way to be 100% sure I think.
The only way to be sure Dizeeeee's got a leg injury and needs compensayshun? Diz, I was knocked down in 2005 and it took about a year to get a payout and they take depreciation into account so you may not get the full retail price of the De Rosa. Might be time to start enjoying the Bianchi and wait until next years models are out before you set your heart on something that will be out of date by the time you're cashed up.

The cost plus helmet, gloves and wheel upgrade comes to 3.5k, so this should be a minimum of what I can expect to receive.
Why would a wheel upgrade be part of an insurance payout? You have another bike, just ride that. Some of my best rides have been on a cheap alu bike that was too big for me. You do give the impression of constantly needing new flash kit to keep your interest in cycling.
I hope you get it sorted quickly but expecting a large payout for a complete new bike/kit and physical injury you may or may not have sustained is optimistic.
I would hope it wouldn't take that long, plus as has already been said to me by the insurance company, it will be a like for like replacement / equivalent cash value.
And yes my leg may not be broken but it has still been injured, and I have three sides of A4 medical notes to cover that thank you very much - so it is still an avenue I may pursue.
Anyway I have the bike back now. It looks totally fine to me, only problem I can see is no front wheel (obviously) which is easily replaced, and a broken left shifter. The rest of it looks fine and appears to work. The bike shop have said it needs a full replacement, stem, bars, frame and gearset. I am not an expert but I am pretty sure a new front wheel and an new shifter on the left side would put the bike back to where it was. I am not sure the bike shop have properly looked at it, they have not contacted me as usual, it has been me pestering them, and what he told me in the shop about the gears, quote "the rear mech has had it, the chains all caught up, I don't know what's going on there" is bks, as I got home, put the chain back on the front cog and the gears all work fine.
Might need a second opinion. It's about the last straw I have had with my LBS. Their rep has gone down rapidly amongst local riders over the last year and I have not felt like I have been dealt with well by them. The chap didn't even seem particularly interested in any of this, and when I was telling him about online frame replacements he just nodded and stared at his screen doing whatever he was doing. No wonder they are struggling.

If you wanted it sorted quickly I wouldn't bother with any injury claim, if its a bit of bruising MTFU and crack on, otherwise this will be drawn out for months and years
When my rear mech imploded into my wheel a few weeks back and I went off on a busy hill all I could think off was thank fck I am alive!
CHoose a new bike shop, I get great service from mine, proper old school no nonsense service with a smile, if not I move on. I always turn up for repairs unannounced and they repair it for the next day, or later the same day, always to a perfect standard
Part of the reason now why I commute on a stty MTB was nearly being knocked off by a car, made me realise having thousands tied up in a bike I use on busy roads isnt the best idea, one knock and drive off and I a fcked!
I'm all for new kit and N+1 but at the end of the day a bike is just a bike , plus it has only been a week
Spare a thought for Yellowjack who ended up in a bad way and a propper fcked bike, you dont hear him whingeing on here how its taking months to heal, at least you can crack on and have another road bike to ride.
I know I am lucky to have another road bike, which I fully intent to make use of in the meantime. As for an injury claim, I am not personally interested but I had hoped with that in mind the insurance company would be a little keener and swifter to deal with me. As it happens they have not been, I have not been contacted. It took three phone calls from me for them to even book their bike inspector. There is now the added question mark of liability as the insurance company is being vague and hinting the driver is not accepting liability, hence why now I feel it may be easier to just go through a solicitors and allow them to deal with this in whatever way they see fit.

I know it's not pantomime season, so are you sure about this?
Yes.And I have resigned myself to the length of time this will no doubt take so will give an update in October.
So, who do you think has written it off? The third party Insurer hasn't even accepted liability, from what you've said.
The insurance are not disputing the damage or financial loss to replace... only whose fault it was and only because this girl has nothing to lose by going down this avenue. It was predict able I guess. Im going to have to sit it out but cheque or no cheque it will be replaced. Luckily I have legal cover through work which covers this else it really would be a total loss.
Why not just pay for a new front wheel and shifter and get the De Rosa back on the road for the spring/summer? you may get lucky or you may have to take it on the chin but at least there is no severe injury... You could be up and running for 200 as below and have reasonable kit, yeah it might not match the rest of the bike but whats more important, getting the bike up and running or saving your cake shop kudos?!... Left hand shifters are irrelevant really, how often do you honestly use it? Its quality doesnt matter.
As you say, the bike looks fine to you and the only people who have said it needs replacing are the people with a vested interest in the great big cheque that could be heading your way (aka the bike shop you no longer trust and whose reputation appears to be tarnished?) Get a friend to thoroughly inspect it and think about impact points, I've seen some epic crashes at the velodrome where guys just get back on the bike and race it again in the same evening.
Easton EA70 front wheel for 130
