The product list is up now too - more than in previous years. Some of the stuff looks pretty good (does perfectly well for commuting at least). https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-25-...
That tool kit looks very much like the one I bought, for the same price, from Planet x.

Also, the double decker bike stand might be a good buy too. Does anyone know if it bolts to the wall, I'm assuming it does...

I'd guess it has to or it would fall over sideways.

I'm going to go and give it a look over, could do with some bits for winter commuting.

My FiL got me some of the £9.99 Lidl bib tights the other week, illest fitting things I've ever tried on! Too short in the length and too big at the waist, I'm 6'1" and a 32in waist so not exactly abnormal!

the winter tights I got last year were awful, like wearing a nappy, ok for under 0 degrees

the arm warmers I got , are brilliant LEG warmers!

The winter top I got was great, but its bloody snug fit and as I have the body of an italian jockey I cant think of many other people it would fit, bar children!

Winter jacket was great , but only when it dipped below 5 degrees, unless you were riding at a relaxed pace.

Looks like it is all quite different from last year though

If you haven't been, then its probably too late already as I had a look today. All the men's jerseys were sold out by 12 and the trousers were gone too. I did however get a couple of base layers and GT85 at less than 2 quid a can is not bad.

Will see if they are any good in the next few months.

Loads of cycle stands left plus the neon jackets, the tool kit looked really nasty, but then it was cheap...

Bugger. Popping into my local one after work so will hope they have some arm warmers left.

I was going to check after work as well.. Ah well fingers crossed the Newbury cyclists haven't emptied the place ;-)

Failing that, Decathlon!

Loads in East Grinstead store. Popped in on my way to Gatwick just now.
Never bought any of their stuff before but came out with socks, gloves,
Gt85 and winter jacket which fits great.

I've bought a pair of the shoes to try. No shortage when I was there at 10am but there are more OAPs fighting over the fig biscuits than cyclists in my local shop.

Not my experience at the Blackwater store. Admittedly I've not been in for this deal, but several times I've been in there and it's the OAPs who are tearing the place to bits for all the 'average' sizes of the cycling kit. Then when an obvious cyclist turns up to rummage through the shredded leftovers, they loudly announce that "I'm buying for Frank, you know. He's my son, and he can't come in today because he's working, you see!"

Well, fk off Grandma, I know full well that you'll be at the Farnborough boot sale on Sunday morning flogging this little lot for a modest profit, because I've seen you there after the last two Aldi 'deal' days. And by the way, can I just ask why 'Frank' needs three track pumps? You're fooling no-one!

(I may also be a little bitter, because I rarely remember to get in there early on the first day, but that's my own fault... rolleyes )

Decent stocks still there at 17.00 in Newbury. I bought some gloves (which will do well for everyday stuff at £5), base layer top and some arm warmers.

Sorry, I should've said; not the merino wool top but the other one - don't have it to hand at the moment for the correct description.

Edit: I did check out the merino one and it felt pretty good but I wasn't sure if £16 was a deal or not.

The Aldi merino I got a few years back was scratchy at first, then died down after a ride or two, it was never smoooth but good for price

I popped in yesterday, got another LS top, all the gear I got last year from there lasted really really well, so I couldn't really justify buying anymore!

Was busy, a few codgers, but loads of cyclists, most in full cycle gear on their commute to work

Seemed to have ok stock

People were fighting over the waterproof trousers.....

Cant really beat it for comuteing, I like the tops for longer rides as well.

The merino- is it supposed to feel 'scratchy'? I bought a merino top for mrshora and she said it felt like scratchy-wool allover. So I fished out my icebreaker merino and she said it felt like silk compared. Bad construction?
If it's anything like other cheap Merino stuff, it'll be 10% merino and the rest horrible man made fibres, hence the horrible scratchy feel.

Ended up getting a pair of winter gloves, some leg warmers as got a sportive this weekend and might be a tad nippy. Also picked up one of the winter jackets, that someone went mental with what I assume is a QA tag on the inside.. every seperate panel had one of those paper "price labels" on.. Took a good 5mins hunting them down!

Also got a compression top. It did seem the sizes were a tad up and down within the same range, with a medium top feeling a bit (just) big, whilst the medium compression was a little tighter than I'd have expected.

Bought a pair of the brown cycling shoes, tried them out on my new pedals last night, no accidents yet.... Shoes I have look and feel fine but I did take two pairs back prior due to one pair having a bolt stripping the thread on removal and the other not glued properly on the bottom but for £20.00 the pair I now have are perfect for me to try out clipped in riding....

I wanted to buy the mudguard set for the pub bike but I couldn't work out if the front one would fit.
