Anyone doing it?

I am. As a 100Kg+ noob, it's going to take a bit of effort to get fit enough to do it, but there's the challenge.

Think I'm going to do it as I was in Le Mans and missed the road ride earlier in the year.

There was a simliar thread a week or two ago, its about 65miles and mostly flat on disused railway lines, bridleways and the odd section on country roads linking it all together... you'll be fine.

Sorry if this is a repeat - I thought I saw something before and couldn't then find it.

I managed Manchester to London in 24hrs and I was 98Kg, so with a bit of effort you will fine smile

I'm contemplating it now I've seen this thread! Don't think I'll have anyone available to do it with me, so getting a group together on here could be an idea?

Being T1 diabetic, I periodically have to monitor my glucose levels when out on a ride, so riding with at least one person is a good idea, just in case I run into issues. Plus it's better than doing it on my own from purely a social aspect!

I could use this as part of my planned 200 miler at the weekend. Southampton to London, then down to Brighton, then acrross to Chichester, and back to Southampton via Fareham.

I thought I was doing this but I'm actually doing the moonride london to brighton tomorrow at 10pm from the olympic park.

Dunno why they chose the same night for both.

I had a look at the route map, it's not really properly 'off road' for the most part. I won't be an official rider either, it booked out months ago. If I do it, I'll aim to lag behind the majority of the riders by about 10 minutes. Then I'll go left towards Littlehampton when they go right to Brighton. I'll donate 40 odd quid to the BHF, seems rude not to.

I had to abort, at Easton (a small village about 12 miles in). I did 106 miles yesterday, my left hamstring was getting tight, I didn't want to risk 200 (odd) today, I donated 50 quid to the BHF anyway. I'll organise it better next year.

Really enjoyed it, though I found it a lot harder than I was expecting. Road cycling has lulled me into a false sense of security when it comes to distances like that!
