Last years event was great despite the wind (the day before the UK hurricane was forecast) - nice rolling route, good atmosphere and nice venue!

I should be signing up again this year as long as hwmbo stamps my leave pass......
Yes, last year's wind and rain made it very interesting...the sight of the chap in full Sky gear clacking about in his cleats pushing his Pinarello up a 'hill' while I cruised by on my old 70s five speed Peugeot will stay with me for ever.

And while you don't get to ride the circuit as mentioned before, the base of the ride is in the infield so you do get a real feel of being 'at' the circuit and can get a bit of atmosphere.

I'd be up for that. If people don't want to 'pay to cycle on public roads', then don't. They are welcome to try and organize another PH cycling weekend. I was gutted we couldn't make it happen this year

Does anyone know what happened to the PH cycling weekend deposits?

I signed up for this one months ago so I'll definitely be there in my brand new(ish) PH jersey.
That's if my company don't send me away to sea again, a habit they have whenever I book a sportive.
Still, fingers crossed...

Coolio smile

I may even buy a PH jersey especially for the event.

SIlverstone is quite convenient for me as its only 50 miles up the road, but for the sake of convenience I would probabaly stay the night in a local travelodge or similar.

Rooms are currently £22, which is a bargain smile

Which travelodge...the green man?

edit - sorry, green man is the premier inn. i've just booked the travelodge 3miles away. £22. bargain!

Which one did you book? I probably won't book it until next month now, but I will certainly do it.

I really enjoy the Wiggle Sportives. They are well organized and the feed stops are always well stocked with good stuff like oreos, jaffa cakes, flap jacks, biscuits and similar. The Magnificat on Sunday last week was great fun. I also managed to get a gold smile

It was the same day as the Birkett last year too. Not that I was in any fit state to watch a motor race but it was on all the same! All sorted and room in the Silverstone Travelodge booked... assume there are some pubs in Towcester for a few beers the night before?

This is the one I booked;

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/185/Towcester-S...

There's a premier inn called the green man too which is fairly close to the circuit, in case the prices have gone up on the travelodge.

I'll be coming from Kent and probably won't get going until late in the evening so doubt I'll make dinner/drinks the previous night - so will see you all in the carpark on the saturday morning I guess smile

I'll be there for food and drinks. John and I will probably be wearing shirts with our PH names on so should be easy to spot.

I'll book tomorrow and then tell my wife. I'll work on the forgiveness is easier to get than permission.

I'll buy her a handbag too to be on the safe side.
