Are you sure your brakes aren't rubbing slightly? Tyre pressures correct?

Elites will never match deep section carbons on the flat but for Huddersfield and climbing, they will take a huge amount off your times.

They are significantly stiffer than your old wheels which means they transfer the power to the road, without wasting some of it by flexing the wheel.

The Mavic spokes are very thin and are way more aero than round spokes, even thin round spokes. The drag behind a round spoke is around 5 times that of a foiled spoke and 3 times that of a flattened spoke.

Enjoy your wheels, accept you will not be much faster on the flats, but will be much faster on the climbs.

You may be slightly faster but don't expect significant a increase in climbing speed. The different between basic and good wheels is a few hundred grams (half a water bottle). Yes yes rotating mass etc etc. Can't say I've noticed any significant improvement going from stock Mavics to Fulcrum R5s to Ksyriums.

I've tried a fair few wheels on my Cervelo including Zipp 404, Harry Rowland openpro custom built, Chinese 50mm Carbon but none of them ride quite as well as my Elites with 25mm Conti 4000S's. Deep dish are definitely faster on the flat, but less comfy, the Elites are just a great all round wheel. Stick with them and I'm sure you'll get used to them, maybe tweak the tyre pressures? I run at 75-80psi with my 25mm tyres and ultra light tubes.

Thanks again folks. To answer a couple of questions. My assessment has no scientific basis it's just how I feel when I'm riding and the wheels are running free and very smooth, no brake binding or anything.

I've weighed the wheels tonight and they mavics are significantly lighter which must be a benefit. I'm out on them tomorrow so will see how they feel. I'm sure I will get into them after a few more rides.

Love the Heretic comment too :-)
