Hi All,

Just clicked over 1,000 miles on my Specialized Allez after getting it in October last year, 800 of those miles have been done in the last few months commuting though.

I've kept the bike clean and lubed but with crossing the 1,000 miles should I be looking to service anything yet? Or should have done already?

Brake pads are nearly done so will be changing those and really want to change the OEM tires although they seem fine.

Cheers

The gear cables can stretch slightly but if your gears are changing ok then you don't need to adjust them, apart from the pads you've already mentioned there really isn't much else to worry about.

Chain could probably do with a good clean by now. Other than that not much attention likely to be required.

If it is running sweet I would leave as is, should be fine, you soon know if there are issues.

I would swap the pads and tyres over pronto , you should notice quite a difference.

Cool, thanks chaps.
Just placed an order for some Salmon Kool Stops and waiting on Wiggle's twin pack of Continental GP 4000 II S's coming back in stock.

The rear dérailleur could do with a tune as it sticks on downshifts so I'll re-align that this weekend.

At what mileage/age do you start thinking about re-greasing hubs/bearings and stuff?

Depends on the weather mainly. In the dry they'll not need doing for ages practically.
