My GF's is still standard, apart from mud guards and new brake pads. With a decent frame they do make a good bike to upgrade but she isn't interested, just uses it as a commuter bike to work.

Mine is standard.... Apart from the saddle, and the bar tape... Oh and the cranks and the BB of course... But totally standard, except for the brakes and the wheels. But apart from that it's the same as when I got it, oh and the cables.

Mine is totally standard as its hanging up in the garage, never been ridden. I saved a fortune buying a bike I didn't need!

Fairly common.

If I bought one of these Argos bikes tomorrow, I would probably throw away the groupset immediately and replace with 10/11sp 105. Yes it would be lighter, but my main reason being, I just don't like shifters with external cables.

Even if I bought a £1500 Specialized Tarmac tomorrow, I'd remove all the 105 and replace with SRAM Force. The wheels would be binned too.

9sp Sora still fetches good money on Ebay. Shifters for example, think I got £50 for mine used. Brand new rear exit 105 10-sp were £85 from Ribble. Wheels with tyres only fetch £50-60 so keep them for winter.

had one of these for couple months now, great bike. Replaced the saddle though.

Any upgrades I should that would make it better in any way?

could somebody recommend me wheels/tyres to put on. And will they give much advantage over the stock ones?

New to biking.

thanks

How far/fast are you riding? If not fully bike fit yet, stay with the OE wheels and tyres. You'll learn what you want/need as you get fitter, faster and more interested in finding these things out.

Sorry, missed this reply.

It's a 58, the bike is in Derby. Message me if you're interested.

There´s no reason to replace the stock wheels unless you´re planning to race at top level*.

Some bikes have shipped with Vittoria Zaffiro tyres which are probably better than the Kenda tyres listed on the Argos site. If you´re getting loads of punctures look at swapping in a new pair. Give the stock tyres a try though.

Just make sure you´re running at an appropriate pressure (approx. 8 Bar) and you´re good to go.

...*I raced a local team triathlon this weekend, in full aero gear, TT bike, deep race wheels, clip on aero bars, and was unable to catch the kid ahead of me on an entry-level Specialized Tarmac with training wheels and tyres, no aero bars.... the motor is the important thing!

Unless you want the bike to feel more lively and fun. It won't make a significant difference to your speed, but a lighter set of wheels can make a bike significantly more enjoyable.
