Evans Cycles

Anyone know if the Reading or Guildford branches of Evans cycles are bigger than the Woking one? Can get a pretty big discount with them, but the Woking shop doesn't seem to have a great selection of the commuter/hybrid types that the Mrs is after.

Guildford branch is pretty big, but as above... order it in, and if it's not what you want, they will give you a refund.

Trouble is she's not too sure if she wants a conventional hybrid or a sit up and beg shopper so want to at least have a sit on a few before trying. We'll give Guildford a try at the weekend and see what they've got, cheers.

The Guildford branch does have a lot of bikes on display.

They're useless for parts mind, but so is every LBS out there.

It is. Really useful having it tacked onto their distribution warehouse, allowing you to try/view pretty much anything in their catalogue.

I bought my bike from the Woking branch a couple of weeks ago. They told me that the Guildford branch isn't allowed to stock specialized bikes.

That's a bit weird and might reduce the choice a bit, this website shows a couple of suitable looking Specialized's in her price range. We'll take a look in the Guildford one and if she still wants to look at stuff without ordering in use it as an excuse for an hour's ride on the other bikes to the Gatwick over the bank holiday. I assume if she finds something there she likes she could order it in to Guildford or Woking?

There is a Specialized shop in Kingston .

The Reading branch is fairly big with a range of all types of bikes with a bias towards road. I reckon you'd find enough there to decide between a sit up shopper and a hybrid if not the exact model.

I suspect it's because Cycleworks stock Specialized. And by stock I mean they push.

You can buy very little that isn't specialized in that shop.

I'm not one to suggest going there and then ordering from Evans. But do that. They're not really a LBS, more an extension of Specialized anyway.
