I was just wondering if anyone had any good workout routines for a turbo trainer?

I am unfit and trying to get myself back into shape and as getting out on the bike is a little difficult at the moment the TT is the only real option for me.

Looking for a routine that will help me build up my level of fitness, get me breathing hard and my get my heart going.

Cheers

James

Sufferfest.

Failing that, google GCN Spinning on youtube.

:-)

This regime was legendary a few years back - if you can stick it it will work -

Keep the sweat off your bike - it`s very corrosive!
Good luck!

I'd definitely go with Sufferfest, well worth the money.
If you've got a suitable turbo then try using Trainerroad, they have some good training sessions and training plans on there and it can also be combined with Sufferfest videos if you like.

As above - some kind of cadence / heart rate monitor (or a power meter) hooked up to a laptop, trainer road subscription and some sufferfest videos.............and a towel over your bike / the floor.

Thanks for the suggestions guys - going to try all of them!

I did the GCN work out last night and felt pretty good for it. I think I am going to have to rinse that one out a good few times before I progress onto something more demanding. My legs feel so weak! Sat down isn't an issue but rising out of the saddle for hills is what really knackers me out!

I only have a basic TT (£60 Amazon bobbie) didn't want to spend to much initially just incase I found I didn't like using the TT, but I might progress to something more advanced later on down the line.

Cheers

The one where the train blocks your path is utter agony. Just getting to the top of the climb is struggle. 7 to 8 for the whole climb and then the sprint at the top is a killer

I've a bog standard turbo trainer too, but use it with trainer road and for $10 per month I think it's great. Assuming you have a garmin unit already, all you need in addition is a garmin usb stick which lets your laptop talk to your garmin bits. Then trainerroad works great - I've really noticed the difference

Audiofuel do a good range in podcast-style turbo trainer sessions. Chrissie Wellington's Ride Harder range is a personal favourite, though I usually couple it with her Run Faster tracks for a tough brick session.
