I'm after a rear light 'to be seen' as I commute around greater london. Ideally something from halfords as I can get a friends&family discount. Can anyone suggest any? I already own a topeak light for the front which I'm more then happy with.
My initial thoughts were getting a Knog Blinder1 rear due to their compact size and its something you can just strap onto the seat post, or chuck into your pocket.

A slightly cheaper option would be the Lezyne femto drive rear.

My only concern with the Knog is some people seem to say it sometimes comes off without reason. I'm not sure how secure they are.

Additionally I'm after an all purpose lightweight jacket of sort. some degree of water resistance would be great so that I can use it in the rain, a hood would be nice too. Something casual enough that I could also use as a normal jacket.

Moonshield 60. People give me more room when it's flashing even in broad daylight.

£33 compared to £15 for the knog and £11 for the lezyne. Looks abit chunky too.

horrible. i dont need a jacket to be 'seen'. And its something that I'd like to wear casually. I'm fine with just using front/rear lights.

ProBikeKit have them for £21.50 (when in stock). I'd second the MS60 (I have one) over the Lezyne (I also have one). The Lezyne is 7watts, the Moonshield is 60 watts!

The MS60 is £24.94 from Wheelies and the are not chunky at all, in fact almost the same size as the Lezyne, just a different orientation!

My 'go to' jacket is a Gore Tex Windstopper by Gore Bike Wear. It's blue, it looks like an anorak so it ain't stylish but neither do I look like a steward at the MEN Arena with it on. Think 'trainspotter' without the Thermos and woolly hat. It's fantastic and I thoroughly recommend it.

If I were riding in London with it I would probably throw a hi-viz vest from the pound shop over the top of it.

Loads of rear lights to choose from. Get whichever fits your budget.

I was out in a group ride tonight with my Moon Shield, the cyclists behind me were complaining they couldn't see anything because my light was too bright. Highly recommended if you need something super bright

I use a Fibre Flare on my helmet all the time in London. All weathers, day and night. Because it is up high it's harder for the murderous car drivers not to see you.

Exposure Flare is good too. I have the older model which munches through batteries, but I think there's a newer one which is USB chargeable.

Seconded. Fantastic thing. Get two - I have one on steady (for distance perception) and one pulsing (to attract attention).

If it must be Halfords the Knog Blinder is a good shout too.

I had to junk my old style Flare in the end as the contacts kept wearing away and it turned itself off without me knowing. Exposure rebuilt / gave me a replacement a couple of times but no good long term. A colleague at work has also had the same long term issue with the old style. Worth looking what the switching mechanism is in the newer style version to see if they have cured this.

All that being said their front lights are ace and so in the end I replaced the rear with their Blaze model - USB and mains chargeable, incredibly bright on full setting and battery life good enough for about a week's winter commuting between recharges if not running max output. Not cheap but I'd highly recommend it as a long term solution.

Really like it, got one for Mrs last year but wanted an upgrade from the Knog as I'm commuting.

Cat Eye Nima - good fitting and very bright, flash and pulse options - £6.50 rear only or £11 for front and rear - can't fault them as marker lights.

I use a Lezyne Zecto and is plenty bright enough for built up areas and pitch black country lanes. Highly recommended.

As for a Jacket, I have a Gore Tex Active jacket for very wet/cold days. Not sure I'd use it as a casual jacket, but I have also used it for running.

Moon Shield is ace, but don't drop it. Twice I've broken the clip by dropping the light.
