They say it never gets easier, you just go faster.

Hope that helps!

(It will get easier than that though.)

Everyone has to start somewhere. Keep at it.

It does get easier... or faster.

Give it time and soon you'll be looking for hills to get more pain. Then you'll start spending lots if money to dwell on the pain.

Finally, you'll use electronic devices to track and record you pain to then show your friends!

It is a funny thing. Last week exactly the same cycle on my road bike I thought my legs would explode due to lactic build up no idea why or how, yesterday on my MTB with knobbly tyres on I flew home and kept up with a group of guys on road bikes for a short amount of time.

My experience is it gets easier but then you get faster and think that it is still tiring until you look at your times but also remember to drink and eat well.

Then to follow, you have the fun of using the information the electronics are telling you and hurting yourself deliberately as the person infront of you can cope with the pain for 5 seconds longer and as such is quicker and you can't have that!

Buy a road bike or 3. Lose weight. Cycle all the time. Buy loads of Italian Lycra. And shoes and helmets. And st. Rinse and repeat. I did 30k today as a light lunch time ride and missed a work conf call ( well I did it in a lay by)

On bike 2 ( or 3 or 4 or 7 depending on view)

Read Velominati.

Live, eat, sleep, drink ( yes DRINK) the bike

I do 7.8 every day, doesn't get any faster, but enjoyable. Some hills, takes about 38 mins, stick with it, the benefits are worth it.
