i've never had any problems downloading a route from mmr to my computer as a gpx file and then transferring it to my garmin. until today.

i've created a route.
saved it
export as a gpx file
go to the downloads 'bit' on finder (this is on a mac) and for some reason the file has not been saved / exported as a gpx file. hence when i put it onto the garmin it doesn't save it.

why should this have suddenly stopped working. even with routes i have previously created if i try and export as a gpx, it transfers for my downloads file but not as a gpx file.

any thoughts why this should be? i've tried restarting my laptop etc. doesn't make any sense. i 'm not doing anything differently than i have for the last couple of years. same laptop, same operating system...

When ever I make a route on Map My Ride it downloads as a GPX file. It then has to be converted to a TCX file then loaded onto the garmin (500)

I use this site http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do

Doesn't answer your question however.

I would say to use bikehike and then just select tcx, its far better than other sites for mapping imo.

Rob T,

I just signed up for this forum so that I could reply to you. I was having the same problem and was searching everywhere to find out why, all of a sudden MapMyRide started downloading a "file" instead of a .gpx. I did everything that people were saying in the forums, and finally today (after about of a month of having to just "give up"), I got it to work. Just do everything like you use to do, and copy it over to a folder or your Garmin...then rename it to whatever you want to know it .gpx. Stupid, I know, but it works...lol. If you have a file names "test", just simply name it "test.gpx". Garmin will read it fine.

I did a tcx last night as normal. Tcx is better the gpx anyway as got all the mmr way points.
