Any tips for a TT noob Rob? I've got my club's TT coming up in a month and a half. Its also a 14 but I won't be doing it in 30 minutes! I know the course so I reckon 40 mins is a good target. 2 x 20s ahoy!
One of the races I did at Hillingdon there was a strongish rider amongst us. He raced CX and was a big ol' piece, on an early lap he cut someone up, that sort of set the tone. Last lap with the track running CCW he went off the front on a mission. A fair few followed waiting to get position after the club house. He then blew up and pulled across the entire peloton from his inside line to the far right hand side. Carnage wasn't the word. Luckily I was on the inside and clipped a chap lightly but got through. Other than that it was keystone cops all over the place. Afterwards a few riders had to be held off him, moronic riding but he just didn't understand what he was doing. First TT, just learn what your pace is with a HRM or powermeter then start off a bit easier. Get onto a hard effort after a mile or so then push like mad on the final third. TBH the first one is data gathering, the best thing you can do is go and ride the course a few times and see what you can do.
Best bit of advice re: any racing but especially TT's; fail to prepare, prepare to fail /cliche

Yeh, tough to do if you warm up on a turbo though as throwing all the crap back in the car takes about 3 minutes Also I get nervous when I'm still on the turbo and its less than ten mins to my start time...!

I used to have it written down noted down to the minute it stopped me arsing about talking to people when I should have been warming up.Also I get nervous when I'm still on the turbo and its less than ten mins to my start time...!
I used to do 20 mins on the road making sure my bike was ok then 20 mins progressive warm up and arrive at the line 2 mins before start.
