+1! 100 quid on a turbo is 100 quid not spent on something nice...
This. Spend it on good lights and go ride.

It's not just about avoiding weather. I use the turbo (Tacx Bluemotion) to do quick structured interval sessions. This is very hard to do on the roads around where I live as you have no control over the amount of traffic, or when you will be forced to stop at traffic light/junctions etc.

I'd rather be outside but this is a more effective use of time.

No such thing as grippy ice, still a complex collarbone fracture should only keep you off the bike for a few weeks...well worth the risk?

Kinetic Road Machine here too. Knocks spots off anything else I've tried. You can get your money back on it as well if you decide to sell such is the popularity of them.

I seriously considered the Road Machine- Sigma had them at half RRP in their sale, but ultimately I didn't think it was worth the hassle of selling my Fluid-2 only to replace it with another "dumb" trainer, hence saving for a Kickr.

Cheers for the suggestion, I went with it and did my 1st hour on it today and plenty of resistance did Sufferfest The Hunted and was ~ 3 gears lower all the time than my previous magnetic trainer and had a much harder work out so good suggestion money well spent thanks :-)

I've been using the Cyclops Fluid 2 for the past couple of years now with absolutely no issues. Glad I spent the extra over the cheaper one I was looking at.
I have one of these too, no problems.

After having the first few goes on my newly delivered Cycleops Fluid 2 I can confirm that it feels great and more than worth the money paid for it.
