Both mine are from Orange, a 5 and P7.

If I got into road riding I'd buy an Orange road bike, even if they were poop. I just love the brand.

I already have, so far. Whyte. But I fancy something from Niner in future.
Interesting. Worst bike I've ever owned was a Whyte. They must have improved to foster such loyalty.
What didn't you like?

I'm not a massive fan of roadies but this is sure to appeal to some people:

Instead, I'd prefer this (flat bars):

For trails:

Don't think I'll ever need a downhill machine (I'm too old) but someone might:

I had a whyte 46. Rather stupidly I bought in the strength of reviews. The build quality was poor and the paint was terrible. It didn't ride well - lots of flex in the rear triangle, and it pitched massively under braking.

The bikes in those pics look much better built I have to say.

Trek for me, a garage including :-

http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/road/performa...
Madone 7.9 road covered

http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/mountain/cros...
Superfly 9.9 XTR (ideal world it'd be 650b though) for XC marathons

Remedy 9.9 27.5 for all general riding

Slash 9.9 27.5 for places like BPW

Session 88 DH 27.5 for trips to the Alps

Session 8 Park for places like Aston Hill / Tidworth

Would be amazing :-) and add up to more than I've ever owned at any one time Motorbikes and Cars

I would have been all Canyon but their inability to deliver on promises regarding delivery dates let them down, ended up switching to Felt for the CX bikes and very happy I did.

On One/Planet X/Titus (same co.) for me.

They offer carbon, ali, steel & titanium, customisable specs, bike fitting and cover all the sectors including niches like track, fixed, TT, SS, fat bike etc.

Nearly always top value in all of them too.

I struggle to see past Whyte tbh. Got 2012 & 2013 801's along with a 2014 T129 Works. All 3 ride well and the 2 801's (the older ones a bit of a hybrid) have done some serious miles and taken a serious amount off abuse. The 129 I just cant fault and replaced a Yeti ACR that I hated.

Currently thinking about a 650b and theres a likely hood that something from the Whyte stable will be on the list, although I do fancy a Santa Cruz

Already there with Spesh. I have a Roubaix, Tricross and Rockhopper, SWMBO has a Sirrus, miladdo an Allez. I traded in my old Allez against the Roubaix. Currently considering how badly I need a Langster.

For such a small brand/company, Genesis have a surprisingly large range. The only thing(s) they're lacking are FS mountain bikes (which they dabbled in a couple of years ago, but for some reason dropped).

4 boardmans at present
There will be a fifth being assembled from parts soon.

Having them all match is nice - but each time I've gone looking I've struggled to match price / spec elsewhere.

I suspect that situation has changed with the current 2014-2015 lineup however.

Currently
Best bike - 2010 vintage pro carbon (race prepared t800 frame version) running SRAM red and DA deep section wheels. Its getting some zipp vuka bars for next year and a matching stem & seat post.

MTB - 2012-2013 model Pro MTB. New December 2013 with a ludicrous discount.

CX - Boardman CX team. Bargain, but even heavily upgraded with I'd spent the extra on the elite model.
New November 2013 with a serious of ludicrous discounts.

Winter bike - 2010 vintage road team. Lighter and better specced than the current team carbon....

Coming soon - drop bar, rigid carbon fork MTB / monstercross. To be built from leftovers from upgrading that lot and on a secondhand pro MTB 26" frame

I have a soft spot for Colnago so I have 5 of those, plus a Cinelli, a Merckx and a Lemond.

Every time I see that Dogma XC bike I just assume there is a disclaimer from Pinarello that says riders must weigh less than 60kgs and the biggest drop covered by the warranty is from the kerb to the road...

Likewise.

Loved when they did the Roadie-O a few years back and quite like the look of The Thing (RX-9).

As above, I just love the brand and have still got my 1994 P7 in the shed.

Jealous. Only 3 for me!
- Last years Team FS MTB (still fun for mucking about on)
http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/m...
- This years ProCarbon SLR road bike (gorgeous bike, but im not man enough for the stock gearing, and I hate the saddle)
http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/road_pro_carbon_...
- This years ProCarbon Hardtail MTB (god, I love this bike)
http://www.boardmanbikes.com/mtb/ht_procarbon650b....

I would like a 4th - a CX to use on the road for the disc brake, as within 5 minutes of rain or even just wet roads, the brakes on my road bike are shot. No braking power, and when I get home I have to pick out shards of aluminium from the brake pads with a pin. That's not normal is it?

The CX despite its shortcomings is still probably my favourite bike - especially when it's raining sideways.

Quick Fixes for the SLR - Swap crank for a compact (Ultegra compact on planet X for £99)
Swap brake pads for Swisstop - Personal recommendation for Greens, others vote for others in the range, either way they are shockingly good and will transform braking.

Nowhere near as good as discs mind, but even after my CX has been on a serious diet it's still 2kg heavier than the Pro SLR so swings and roundabouts.

If you wanted the be 'that guy' you could argue as Giant manufacture about 80% of the bikes that come out of the far east it wouldn't be hard, but I', not 'that guy'

I could easily live with only Santa Cruz bikes, even though I've never owned one. I'd be happy with Intense too.

I'm a Cove rider at heart, but they're such a small outfit they rarely have many frames out and their DH frame is from 2005 really, their AM frame is 2011...

I missed the PlanetX offer -its back up to £130, but i will keep an eye out for that. I fitted last night a bigger cassette (11-28) so will see how i get on with that to begin with.
Ta for the pad advice - i'll give them a go.
