HI

I've been looking at some options for a low to mid range turbo trainer and have found the following ones. Wondered if anyone had any experience of them and could offer an opinion. I ride a Cube Peloton Pro in the summer months.

Jet-black Cycling Mag Pro Hydro Smart Release
http://road.cc/content/review/117572-jetblack-cycl...

Elite Novo Force Trainer
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/elite/novo-for...

CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/cycleops-fluid-...

Elite Qubo Wireless Trainer
http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/category/access...

I plan on using it quite a lot in the garage so noise, although a concern is not the primary purchase driver. I want a good device which will offer some good resistance training.

Thanks smile

The cyclops always gets good reviews I think?

Sometimes worth reading through the reviews on wiggle to get an idea. Should be hundreds of them.

Mines a cycleops but it's the magnetic one, seems good enough to me. Nothing to compare it to.
Noise wise, it's very quiet.

I've recently got a Cycleops Fluid Pro. I was considering the Fluid2. But someone on here pointed out that it was about £20 difference to the better unit. I also got the £15 riser block. (Had a EvansCycles voucher which helped)

Only had a chance to use it once. Not hard to set up. It's not horrendously noisy. Does have a tiny bit of flex which I assume is normal when you are out the saddle giving it the "53-11 Wildboy Style"

Resistance is progressive but heavier than I expected at slow speeds. They say it's like pedalling normally but I don't think that's quite true. Ultimately I guess you want that to help bring any gains. It slows down pretty quickly as well if you stop pedalling.

Not my vid. If anything makes it seem about 25% louder than I found mine. Albeit I was outside. So being inside will exacerbate

I got my first turbo trainer from my wife for Christmas. I'd read that fluid was the popular choice so I emailed a link of the Elite Crono Fluid Elastogel Trainer to her then forgot about it and Christmas day there it was smile I had to get a riser block and whilst I was buying that I decided to get a dedicated wheel, cassette and tyre. I've had a couple of spins on it but the suns been out three days in row so waiting for another rainy day. Happy with it so far and like the way the bikes gears control it rather than an ugly cable.

Ordered, should be here in 2 days.

Gets good reviews and is half the price of the Cyclops one I looked at.

Be nice to be able to start cycling again.

I'm looking around at cadence and speed sensors now, but I'm looking for something that will integrate with Strava, any suggestions?

Garmin are probably the best...

but a budget alternative is £40 on Bryton 20E at Bike24. Bryton doesn't have the best web interface but you don't need to use it as you can upload to Strava instead. Has GPS for outdoors and can pair with HRM, cadence and dual speed/cadence ANT+ sensors.

The cheapest dual cadence/speed sensor I found is from Decathlon at £17: ANT+ Sensor at Decathlon

You'll need both, but it's the cheapest way I found of achieving what you're after.

Or get a Garmin!

Shame you missed the Edge 500 for £80 a few of us snapped up on Boxing day. I'm just ordering my cadence and speed sensors so i can use it on my new turbo trainer to record distance, pace etc.

I really want the Edge 810 but need to save, so in the mean time I've ordered one of these looks really good and it's less than £50 so I can stay married wink

Another first time turbo user here smile Picked this up on Tuesday for £70! Just need to pick up a riser block tomorrow and then I'll give it a trial run ans see what my neighbours make of it. Being in a flat noice trvels very well so it will be interesting. Its a fluid filled one so the actual noise will be quiet, but the vibrations may be the killer.

I ordered that too as it works with Strava, should be here next week. Interested to see how it goes.

Be interested on your thoughts as I have none whatsoever for mine as I've never used one before.

Well, for the first 5 minutes I used it, was impressed. Quite smooth to use.

Then a crack, I get thrown off and this happens

Arranged with Wiggle for a return, hopefully that'll go smoothly.
