I've noticed that! It's quite demoralising turning a corner from a head wind into a head wind only to find a head wind around the next corner... I can't wait! smile

Current long range forecast is a 14MPH wind almost on the nose towards Pondersbridge. That'll sort the men from the boys biggrin

Showing sunny. bounce

Works for me. smile

As no doubt I'll have 5,000 riders ahead to draft behind by the time I reach Ramsey Heights

Yup, I suspect there will be a lot of drafting in the lower orders, which is where I'll be biggrin

I'm hoping the mass start will mean there's more chance that, an hour in, those nearby will be of similar pace. Rather than on a sportive where they would be a mix of slower riders who started earlier or faster riders who started started later. It would be good to form an impromptu alliance with whoever's alongside to ride through and off for that 7km stretch, at least. What's considered the ideal? Three riders taking 20 second turns on the front?

I work on the do what you can principle. That's a fair way in, everyone should be settled into their pace by the time you hit the fens.

Is anybody able to help with collecting our race packs? We're staying over in The Mumbles, miles away from Cardiff, but only passing after registration closes on Friday. The only challenge is my GF is starting at 07:00 so I guess it'll need to be somebody who's also starting (or at least arriving) early too.

Also, was there talk of a pre-race PH coffee meet somewhere?

Right thread? Reads like you're thinking of Velathon Wales...

2. SixPotBelly - PH jersey
3. WinstonWolf
4. Gruffy - FPHKW
5. PeteB0 - Castelli Prologo/Gabba weather dependant
6. straight dad
7. j00pY - Decathlon aero 9000 bibs and top
8. pembo - Probably a Kellogs Cornflakes jersey
9. 3013buz
10. JagBox
11. Celtic Dragon - in PH kit / Poss Velocio Sram Jersey with PH bibs.
12. skibum
13. ALawson
14. Bedford Rascal
15. Evosticks - most likely FLATB yeller jersey
16. Dontdobends - Team Lusso 72design Jersey and bib shorts
17. Bobley - Black boardman bike, black kit, "3T" jersey, black/flouro lid

Not long to go now. I'll be riding a black/grey SuperSix with either a Castelli Prologo or Gabba Jersey depending on the weather.

It looks like there will be a fair amount of 'dead' time between registration/site access closing at 10 and the event start at 12, so a PH meet seems prudent.

Definitely up for a pre-race PH meet. I need to register on the day so I'll be there very early.

Me too. With site access closing at ten, there's little incentive for me to pre-register on Friday so I'll be driving up from my parents in South Cambs earlyish on the Sunday.

I'll be passing on the Saturday (taking my little one around Rutland Water as a warm up) so I will pop in to register and look around at what's there as I pass.

As I'm looking around shall I scope out a suitable meeting place and see if I can get a map of the site to post up on here?

I'm still considering my parking options, might chuck the bikes in my dads van and get him to drop us off somewhere nearby so that we can ride in.

I imagine getting in the site will be slow on Sunday. Might not be such a bad idea to park outside and ride in. But I like the idea of having my car and kit to hand, so I'll get there as early as I can and queue.

Re the site itself, there's a site map on page 11 of the race book. Low quality though and you can't read the legend, but might help.

It can't hurt, but we may find the place is a bit different on Sunday with thousands of people around. We could always update the thread on the day if things change and we have to pick a new spot.

Yep, I'll take a look around. Peterborough Showground is pretty big, I've never seen every inch of the place full.

I've also had a reply from them about the site map, they are aiming to post a downloadable PDF as shown on the video tomorrow morning.
