200 or 250 mile ride in a day, did 150 last year , enjoyed it and had plenty left in the tank but ran out of time !
http://chasethesun.wix.com/chasethesunDid it last year - excellent route, fantastic challenge. Do it.
Trouble with long distances is, that I enjoy doing it too much on my own!
Think I will look into it, instead of the Dunwich Dynamo, which I did last year, which was amazing, but the trek home was awful

Whilst not trying to sound obssesive about the numbers 3.9 watts per kilo (265w @ 68kgs), as my training level. Not going to set the world alight but, its my (consultant speak) SMART goal. I'd like to have a crack at a race; but I'm not sure I'd like it. Just enjoy fast(ish) group riding with the club / friends.
- looks like im missing my 2,500 mile target for this year by ~200 miles, so will probably keep the distance target the same for 2015.
- have done my first couple of races this winter, so will try and do a few more next years (MTB, XC)
- would like to ride the full Ridgeway - either in one day, or over a couple of days (which would involved bringing tent & equipment on the bike)
- maybe the London-Brighton offroad (as I did the road version this year)
- complete at least one 100 mile road ride (still haven't exceeded 66 miles)
- buy some more bikes...

For me:
- At least match this years distance of 6000 miles
- Introduce a bit more structure into some of my rides (but not lose the enjoyment factor!)
- Enter a few TTs - the local club has a 10 and 25 starting from the park at the end of my street so no excuses really
- Put in a reasonable showing during a week away in the Pyrenees in June
- Making sure the above is some of the most enjoyable cycling I'll experience

What age does the Vets start? I'm thinking I might get my ticket at 40! There is no whey on this planet I'm racing people young enough to be my kids!
Vets are 40+ and then end up in age categories ... but as okgo says, age doesn't actually play such a big part. On my club rides we have a few 60+ riders (one at 70) who could embarrass many middle aged and young ones alike. okgo said:
Vets are often just as good if not better. Being young makes little odds in cycling really.
The Vets races I have watched attracted a few ex-pro's/domestiques, probably more competitive than a fair proportion of the younger riders as they have really learned how to suffer! Only bought my bike in September (2015 specialized crosstrail sport disc, for those intrested)
First time riding a bike in nearly 20years,im unfit!
So just planning on being able to do a 20mile rode without feeling like death!
My last rode of 4.5 miles I had an average of 164bpm and hit a max of 187!shocking!
