Is it worth upgrading my Shimarno R500 wheels ,I`m only a novice . The bike is a planet X carbon with a mix of Ultegra and a bit of 105 .

At my level is it worth it ?

Not the lightest or more aero wheels, but they work. Run 'em for a couple of years on my CAAD9, and they were largely fine despite zero maintenance and utter abuse.

Save your money for now.

I would say yes. Even a cheapest set like Fulcrum 3s/Shimano RS80s will make a big difference IMO.

I only bought them when I had lost a certain amount of weight. It was a good incentive to get out on the bike.

I'm after some new wheels for my CX bike, but I am currently unemployed, so I can't justify it at the moment frown

Keep them as a winter training wheel and get something better/lighter for the summer, you will notice the difference!

RS80s, cheap? Granted they're not a pair of Lightweights, but at £350+, well...

You might notice a bit of difference speed wise with Fulcrum 3s, otherwise I wouldnt bother unless your current ones a broken. If you wanted more comfort / style / durability then there are plenty of hand builts you could get. Ambrosio excellence on shimano hubs for example.
