I don't know Clapham Common well but I understand the bandstand is the traditional meeting place for L2B. Happy to be led if there's a better meeting point though?

The Bandstand is pretty much smack bang in the middle of the common, seems the perfect place to meet tbh.

What time are you thinking about heading out? It's my old dears birthday but if you're going early I could be keen

I'm in! Intend to do LBL, too. Though the pace may not be what you're looking to do G, so may end up separating.

Early doors. Meeting at 7am at the bandstand. This takes the pressure off for those doing LBL and wanting/needing to be back at an acceptable time.

Tony, it makes sense for us to stay together given that we're riding the Tour two weeks later, get our teamwork dialled in for maximum efficiency. You'll be benefiting from your 'new bike tailwind' anyway so you'll probably be quick smile

Fingers crossed I have it by then...it will be close, as it's coming from Italy.

No way can I make 07.00 using the train so I'll decide if I want to drive in next week.

Early weather forecast is SW so it'll blow us all the way home wink The run up the B2026 through Ashdown Forest and Hever, and beyond, is lovely too. (I car commuted that for 4 bloody years, Eastbourne to Bromley)

Is there a 'closing date' for entries..? wink

I'm seriously considering giving this a crack, but the early start is a little "scary".

The 0616hrs train from Farnborough is not due into Clapham Junction until 0657hrs, so I'd be cutting it fine to make the start, too. Currently undecided, I think, but quite keen to get a really big ride in some time this year.

7am on Saturday, I guess. I'll have one last look on the forum on the morning, just to double-check who and how many we should be waiting for. I can't believe a military man is scared of an early start though!?

Head wind out and tail wind home? I'd be happy with that.

I was always scared of early starts. Only when I wore a green suit to work I was never given an option. wink

I've got soft, I think, since I left the mob. As ever, though, a lot depends on a stamped and signed leave pass from 'er what's in charge, and I've not even raised the subject yet. I'll update that list if I decide to do all, or part of the ride with you guys, as soon as I know for sure. Radio silence will mean that I've not secured the necessary permissions...
