Yeh they are a more traditional shape of bar in terms of reach and drop.

I much prefer riding on compact bars and like to set the bars and shifters up so that the flat part of the bar where the shifter mounts is horizontal and extends into the hood but appreciate everybody likes different setups.

Re drifting the rear end, you're not doing something right if you're locking up the rear, and in doing so the tyre will last a matter of days, front brake is where you apply the power biggrin
I was doing something wrong. I was lazy about getting my weight back but the biggest factor was that it was an emergency stop and I instinctively put more power into the 'front' brake. Only, I ordered the bike to France and it came with European brakes setup, which I've not changed yet.

THe Cosmics are a fairly old design in that there are a carbon rim with a fiaring that the spokes pass through rather than the fairing being structural as per the newer Reynolds, Zipps etc, cant see it being an issue though!

I have my heart set on an S3 but the Aeroad is very tempting... I'd like to read some reviews of the Argon 18 Nitrogen too but teh headtube is possibly too fugly to pass my asthetic demands.
Get the s3 I got one last year and its my best bike rides really smooth....loose the mavic wheels supplied and put on mavic r sys they really suit the bike and it climbs a dream

Great read Gruffy! I hope when my new ride turns up I can write as well about it. I think I read somewhere that Mavic tyres aren't the best so maybe swap them out for some Contis. The bike does look mint too! Not sure how anyone could SMIDSY you - perhaps you need daytime strobing lights?

After a bit of a delay (my problem not Canyon's) got my Aeroad CF SLX yesterday. Got the 9.0 Dura Ace model, had to get the stealth and red version, black is sold out, but it is a looker, can't stop looking at it. Going to change the bar tape to black, the red will get dirty very quickly. Spent my morning in work looking out the window waiting on UPS.

Took it for a quick spin up and down the street, them cosmics are loud under braking, at least no one has an excuse not to hear me coming. Hopefully take it for a proper spin after my race tomorrow, armed with a set of allen keys!

Gruffy's one sounds like a harrier jump jet when he overtakes , You can certainly here him coming.

Look forward to a report & picci's.

Cracking choice. I am totally smitten with mine after 2,500km. FWIW I'd have chosen the red/black over the black/black. I quite like the stealth look but it looks awesome in red. My brakes bedded in after 100km and now just sound awesome. Others report 1,000km before the squeal stops.

The red stripe along the top tube sets it off well. I knew it would eventually quieten down but I do love the noise of it though. When driving home with the bike on the roof last night it was turning a few heads smile

Much lighter than expected as well, its 7kg with pedals, still have to put the bottle cages on.

Ordered my Canyon Endurace 9.0 (Ultegra) back in late January. Was due to arrive this week, however I received an email on Tuesday saying it is now delayed by a further 6 weeks!! Particularly annoyed as I enquired last week as to whether it was being shipped this week and they said yes!! I sent a pretty scathing email to them stating my frustration and the appalling level of customer service and they pretty much shrugged their shoulders when I spoke to them today. They offered free shipping as compensation, but I had to twist their arm to get that. I really wanted to tell them where to shove their order, but I do not know where I can get a spec and style of bike like the Endurace for anywhere near the same price (don't particularly like the look of the Rose bikes) anywhere else!! This bike better be worth the wait that's all I can say!!!

Best spec bike is the worst if you can't ride it! I'd sack if off, find something else that you can obtain, forget about the slightly lesser spec (no-one gives a st anyway, unless they're a coffee-shop-bling-slinger ttbag) and be able to use it some time this year...

Just a heads up for those with the Aeroad CF SLX with the H11 aerobar, Canyon have released their out front garmin mount. Placed my order for one this morning. Connects underneath the bars, I had one from Raceware Direct but it just rattled loose and eventually broke.

The aerobar looks awesome, but would I be right in thinking it has no adjustment available?

I'm thinking it may be worth going for the 7.0 with a more traditional stem, and retain the ability to move the bars by changing the stem to get a perfect fit.

I'd appreciate the views of someone with one, please?

Only adjustment that can be done is the height by removing spacers. It seems the aerobars will soon be available to buy on their own, Though I'm sure Canyon would change the bar if you asked them when ordering.

Thanks for your help. I'm an odd shape at the best of times, perhaps the regular stem is the smart option...

I just posted this in the Tour de PH thread, but it probably belongs here. After nerves about the size, the L feels like the perfect size for me at 6'4". I can't imagine what kind of beast rides their XXL version!
Err. I've got a 2XL frame on order, although it's a Ultimate CF SLX rather than an Aeroad. That's the size their calculator recommended for my measurements, and the stated geometry also matches closely with my previous bike, which was fitted by a good shop based on those measurements.

I'm the same height as you at 193cm, but I'm not super-flexible so don't like a big saddle to bar drop. A mate has the same Canyon frame in size L, he's maybe 190cm, and even with a few spacers he has to run something like a 15cm drop, which is too much for me.

As I understand it the Aeroad is effectively a size down compared to the Ultimate. I'm sure their wizard is pretty accurate.

I hope smile My frame is in stock and supposed to ship next week. I've ordered a few bits I need for it, so hopefully will have the bike built up pretty soon after the frame arrives.

Mavic are using the Ultimate CF SLX as the neutral service bikes in the Dauphine and , I assume, le Tour. No idea if Canyon pay for the privilege of if Mavic chose them though!
