Any other recommendations for our Harrogate hotel before I go ahead and book myself into the Premier Inn? I'm already booked into the Arena Ibis on the finish line in Sheffield (£32).

Do you not want me to check out any others Gruffy? I have asked on Twitter and was going to go around a few this weekend, but if you're all happy with the £80 a night Premier Inn then it's in a good position.

If you have time that would be awesome. I'm just conscious that the clock is ticking and we probably need to make some bookings soon, even if it's not the perfect venue.

I had a good look around on t'interweb last night and found some guest houses that would have been perfect but there's not enough space left for all of us now.

If you mean Harrogate south it's £112 for both nights, not including breakfast. I've not any other locations much cheaper than this price.

I was so close to booking the £44-48 Travelodge but then I read their disclaimer about it being next to bars and clubs and to expect the noise. I don't fancy that after a hard day in the saddle.

The two Premier Inn options are the next cheapest. One is near Hornbeam Station (£70/n), which is 1km from the town centre, where we'd find food, drink and massage options. I think that's too far so for £80/n I think the Premier Inn Town Centre is the best option. It's close to the station, has an adjacent P&D carpark and is 5 minutes walk to the bars, restaurants and the Turkish bath.

Can anybody improve on this?

I'll check this weekend.
Hornbeam Park is rubbish. Big office park, after 6pm it is like a ghost town. The PI in the town centre is absolutely spot on position wise. No more than five mins walk to any bar or pub or restaurant that you would need. And £80 a night is only £40 each presuming twin rooms.

Awesome, cheers. Sounds like a winner. Unless you find something better over the weekend I'm planning to book on Monday.

My other concern is bike storage.
I found this place: http://securebooking.eviivo.com/mywebsite/details....
but it isn't big enough for us all to stay in.

It's only a stone's throw from the Premier Inn, so it wouldn't be too inconvenient if we split the group. FWIW, the bike will be joining me in the hotel room all the way around.

Standard form is bike on your room so shouldn't be an issue.
Anyone fancy splitting costs and booking doubles?

I'll split costs in a twin room. If you mean a double room, you'll have to buy me a few drinks from the bar first wink

The advantage of the Premier Inn is that there is enough space in the rooms for bikes. Not sure guest houses would appreciate bikes inside.

Went up to the Premier Inn. As I said, in a great, Central position, bar and restaurant on site if needed, the main NCP underground car for the Conference Centre is attached to it, £13 for 24 hours, about £7 for 4pm to 9am. However, they do not discount, they don't need to, especially as Harrogate is a conference town, so not usually a problem filling rooms. So it looks like £80 for a twin per night. I'm guessing most people won't mind sharing.

I have been in to the Kimberley Hotel, they may be able to do slightly cheaper, but have a mix of only five standard twins, two budget and seven superior, on the standard, you may save £10 a night over Premier Inn. But we don't know number of rooms needed yet do we?

To be honest. at this late stage the PI is probably safer. You know what you are getting and everyone has the same standard. I really would hurry up and book them though.

The problem with the Travel Lodge isn't the bars, it is that as far as I know, it has no parking.

The Travelodge is next to a public car park that's a similar price to the car park at Premier Inn. I'm not going to chance it though, I value a good night's sleep too much to risk it.

I've just booked the Premier Inn on their 'no cancellations' option and it was £131 for the two nights (£60 for Thursday and £71 for Friday). Not too bad at all really. Ticked to add the continental breakfast at £6.50 per day too. With the distances we're riding I'll get my money's worth of bread, jam and granola out of that smile

I've not even met you and you want twins! you'll find we have incompatible sockets!

Twin rooming would be great, are you doing full monty, Harrogate/harrogate/sheffield into London?

No leg work really Gruff. Unfortunately Harrogate is not renowned for "cheap" hotels.

The Travel Lodge uses a very small, open car park at the bottom of the hill which has always seemed very expensive. All on-street parking is free after 6pm, but not that bloody car park!

But guys, seriously, get your rooms booked soon!
