Thinking about getting some new grips for my bike, for no other reason than to personalise it a bit.

Been looking at ODI Troy Lee and Lizard Skin Peatys, anyone know if these are any good? The reviews on Amazon are positive.

Any other recommendations? From googling ODI and Lizard Skins seem to be popular. As I said I have no issues with the ones it came with apart from wanting a different colour smile

I always used ODI Lock Ons, if you are sliding your grips onto your bars, hairspray does it best.

The current ones appear to be lock ons (little metal collar, looks like it takes an Allan key) so would likely go like for like.

Silly question, but are they mainly a one size fits all kinda deal?

Clarkes lock on £2.99 and identical to many other brand lock on grips that retail in the £15 region, nice and soft so do only last a season but at £2.99 for nice fresh new ones each season why not?

ODI X-trainers on both of mine. Very comfy and grippy. One set have been on almost 3 years now and show no sign of wear other than the coloured collars that don't like puncture repairs.

Used to have Superstar ones which over the same time looked worn and felt much harder and never as comfy.

Currently have peatys. They're nice, but not noticeably better than the £5 lock ons they replaced.

I also have peatys and have just changed to these http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/lock-on-grip...

Seem very good so far and you can just replace cartridge if you want,i have had odi lock ons as well cant say they are worth the money.

For £2.99 the clarks ones are great value.

I still fancy trying a pair of these http://www.tmrdesigns.com/shop.html

The best & most comfortable to me have been any decent foam ones.
Anything stiff / rubbery seems almost pointless after the above.

Best grips I've found so far the ESI chunky's. Silicone rubber construction, give good vibration damping, because some lock on grips are literally a round plastic tube, with a thin rubber covering, which can on long rides become uncomfortable.

ODI are the original lock on grips, everything else is basically a copy of them (and many are made by ODI anyway).

That's not to say the others aren't as good.. ODI have fantastic range of compounds and patterns and suchlike but they still insist on using feeble little 2.5 mm allen key bolts which strip out for too easily. Other brands use 3 mm, and the extra 0.5 mm makes a big difference.

unless clarks have stepped up their game, then their cheap grips are noticeably worse. I had a set for a while and found them to be uncomfortable after not particularly long time and transmit a lot of vibration and harshness due to thin and cheap feeling rubber layer

I'd vote for ODI's, had mine for nearly 3 years and really still in very good condition.

On the recommendation of this thread, I used these guys recently. Ordered Monday, arrived Tuesday. Grips looks great, haven't fitted them yet but everything seems high quality including the anodised lock rings. How they can sell them for a tenner is crazy!

Another vote for ESI Chunky here. Comfortable. No issues with grip. Seem to be lasting well.
