When was your last off? + helmet suggestions

As I'm sitting here sore & aching from last nights ungraceful dismount, I got thinking its been a while since my last crash.
I'm not sure how I managed it but I succeeded in going over the bars and head butting the floor when hopping up a kerb
Resulting in cracked helmet, grazed and bruised shoulder, wrists & shins.
So when was your last crash?
As i now need a new one does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement helmet.

Last crash was 2m before the finish line of the Box Hill sportive last autumn, I blame the rubber matting positioned for protection!
Apart from that it was riding over wet sleeper on 23mm tyres (result was falling in a stream), and before that "diesel" on a roundabout.
Lucky I have a source of cheap OEM Specialised kit to replace the damaged lids.

I came off on some off road ice in early Feb and landed hard on my knee. Was lucky, a few weeks and I was back riding again. I now wear Fox Enduro knee pads on all 'serious' off road rides, i.e. everything but riding the canal path to work.
I have a IXS Trail RS helmet that I really like. Recently tried a Lazer and despite my impression of them being a budget, cheapy brand I was very impressed with the fit. Can't recall the name but it was one of their higher end trail lids.

But seriously, I just went into a bike shop and tried every helmet in the shop until I found one that sat right on my head.

My last crash was February 2014 - hit by a van at (on, actually) a roundabout. I was wearing an Uvex 'Boss Race' helmet at the time, and it survived pretty well. I suspect I would have been fine without it with regard to serious head injury, but it saved me from a head full of cuts and grazes, and kept my face off the deck. On initial inspection it appeared completely undamaged, but a closer look revealed the scrapes and scuffs, and the outer shell was "blown" away from the styrene body of the helmet.As I now need a new one does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement helmet.
Recommendations? Well, it's such a subjective topic, really. What fits me well might not fit you, and vice versa, but obviously I'd recommend the Uvex lid because it appeared to have worked well in a collision...

WTF? )......which I bought because it felt really comfortable, plus it was a 'free accessory' on the bike shop's deal with a new bike, and as a Brucey Bonus, it is a great match, both colour, and brand wise, to my lovely new Trek bike, and I am a massive tart when it comes to matching my gear to the bike

Saturday 28th Feb. "Joined the club" having fitted SPDs to my HT and forgetting that I hadn't wound the bite back. Tried to hop sideways onto a kerb, failed, then failed to unclip.
Had to fly to Australia the next day. Not all that comfortable as it turned out. Neither was the subsequent two weeks in a camper van and neither was the trip home. Off to the doctor's this evening to see if he'll book me for an x-ray...

Yesterday - most stupid off ever. Lesson learned - don't stop concentrating just because you've got over the big trail feature, otherwise you end up looking like a massive tit.

Went over the bars on a Borrowdale descent a few weeks ago. Bounced fortunately as I had a pair of trail running races in the rest of the weekend. Currently got a Giro helmet and like them but have been out of the helmet buying game for a while so no idea what's good nowadays. Fortunately got a great local bike shop to help me if need be.
I don't ride often anymore, certainly not offroad. Crashing with no more than bruises came back to me much more quickly than descending well on rocky sections

Up on Woodbury Common, a couple days before xmas, I was doing circa 20 mph and chucked myself at the scenery, after getting a huge wobble on after a bend.
Bike was pretty much ok, I escaped with deep cuts on my right fore arm and shin, though the sharp pain in my leg made me think I had broken it. Not ideal in the arse end of no where on my own!

Dusted off my MTB for the first time in literally 10 months or so today.
Some air in the forks and back shock massively improved over last ride....
Great fun, had an absolute blast but forgot how much you need balance and weight distribution when on the trails nearly had a few offs over some big tree routes, and then another near off trying to overtake a grumpy t

How much difference is there between a road and a MTB helmet?
I've seen a MTB helmet that I like, is comfortable and at the moment, heavily discounted, but I only ride on the road. Obviously it can be used on the road, but are there any drawbacks (noise, visibility, protection etc..) oh and I hate wearing my current helmet enough, that I don't always bother
