You can buy massage vouchers at the booking stage, along with other things, but I'm having a faff registering a team at the moment as there appears to be a glitch with the booking system.... if it gets fixed I'll report back with news. I'm keen to take advantage of this 20% BC discount and I think we have at least half a four man team now...
Glitch fixed! Apologies - issue when we reset the system with the new categories. J

With the reduced rate and non essentials removed I'm up for it preferably at the 6 man level which could mean spanking it for 4-5 laps and having a good recovery or even a kip. thoughts?

Is this spanking it in the PH support car again?

I'm good for a racing snake team. A 4 man team is probably the sweet spot but anything up to 12 hours is cool. I'm resisting the temptation of a solo entry.

I think a four man team is ideal, longer enduro pace stints in the night time so people can get their head down then shorter quicker stints in the daylight and everyone gets good track time though. Is this a team then, Gruffy, Justin, Cool C and I?....

15mph limit in the pit lane, which is very long on a bike. If you're looking to be competitive (and I can't help myself) you'd want to optimise stint lengths to the point at which fatigue is costing you more time than a rider swap. That will probably vary by rider but it sounds like you could monitor it from the pit wall using their app, or just a stop watch, and make the call if the lap time starts slipping.

Hard to know isn't it, personally I could bang out better times over a 30 minute stint with 90 mins recovery than I could by doubling that, it'd not take longer than 90 mins to refresh glycogen stores and be ready to go again.
Need to tap up someone who has done a similar event.
For me sleep dep would be a non issue.

I'm very conscious that I get quite competitive with stuff like this. That's part of what I enjoy about these events but I'm equally conscious that others are the opposite. I wouldn't want to be 'that dick' who is taking all the fun out of it for those who enjoy it a different way.

I'm not talking Team Sky levels of planning and detail but I'd quite like to have a proper stab at setting the best distance I can. Please speak freely if it's not really compatible though. Better that than me annoying people on the day.

I think during daylight it would be easier to just go out for 4 laps per person, then in the evening/night accept that the pace will drop a bit and riders can stay out for a bit longer to increase rest periods. I'm game to just batter myself as someone sees fit and in accordance with a plan. I'll bring the rollers and we can at least warm up/down etc in the pits. I suspect thats where we will end up "camping" too... Ultimately its a race and not a sportive, I too would like to be in the "taking it seriously" camp.

Just trying to resolve some conflicts on that date atm, I'm happy to register a team later this week.

Brands GP lap Strava
Looks like the first half is a bit of a struggle and the second half is..... weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I havent driven round it so assume that drop is fun!?

I'm very happy to be in a team, but I'm a long way from your racing snake status.

I'm firmly in the "take it steady, and enjoy the day/night" camp.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully we have enough interest for a competitive team and a social team. Hopefully in the same garage too, so it's one big PH gathering in the pits.

Paddock Hill Bend is one of the best corners anywhere in the world. So satisfying to drive and I can't wait to ride it on two wheels. I suspect the run up to Druids will be longer and steeper than I remember though!

Me too CoolC, no reason why personal ambitions can't be the goal within a team ofixed abilities tbh.
There's still kom and lap records to be had

We're in....

I have registered a team called "PistonHeads", You will need to choose team of four at the start of the registration, then click "join a team" you can search for Pistonheads and the password is "pedalpowered". In the spirit of PH, the team is open to anyone, racing snakes and those who feel they are not quite a racing snake but want to have a laugh whilst pushing yourself and doing something a little bit unusual. Racing for 24 hours around Brands on a push bike covers all three for me. I dont think anyone should feel they would let the team down just because they arent at a pro-level of fitness, none of us are thus it should be possible to do shorter, more frequent stints for example based on preference?.

I'm hoping that having joined the team you can then add your personal requirements (massages, food etc) as you go as I havent done any of that. I intend to survive on Ginsters pasties, Haribo and I'm hoping there is a socket in the pits so we can have a kettle in there to satisfy my coffee addiction. It may be possible to add extra requirements at a later stage too? With the BC discount it was £115.86 for the bare bones race entry.

I've said on the entry form I'll pitch a tent on the Friday evening, we can make arrangements for that sort of thing in the course of the summer along with lights, pit equipment (I want a pit board, who has a pit board?!??!), rollers, etc. One thing that may be worthwhile is booking a non-riding team manager place and splitting the costs between us. This gives us the opportunity to have someone in the pits who can just monitor everything and do the admin faff whilst our minds fail us after 18 hours.

I'm hoping the grown ups at PH show some interest in this given the obvious links between the event and motorsport and I'll try to see if we can get some PR, there is charity potential but I'd rather sort out getting four riders first before we get into that sort of thing.

Finally, as the person registering the team I am the recipient of a Revolve24 jersey but I'm going to throw this out to you as bait and say that the person who posts the fastest lap of the race for PistonHeads can have it (it would be ideal if that person had a chest measurement around 40-42")... £115 to enter and you have a 1 in 4 chance of a posh long sleeve Castelli jersey...

Have just been catching up with this thread; I really love the idea of it, but unfortunately can't commit at the moment. I'm not 100% certain where I'll be in September so wouldn't want to say "yes" and then have to pull out.

What a shame! When I find out for sure though if I'll be in UK, I'll definitely return and see if there's still room biggrin (or if not, will happily be the organiser / manager / pit board etc. for everyone - I'd enjoy that anyway!)

Oh, I did a 90min event at Brands once, for an idea of laptime etc, this was my strava (I wasn't hugely fit at the time)

https://www.strava.com/activities/18843300

Best lap was my first lap (3.37). Paddock is VERY steep and saps energy. The whole lap is spent going through the gears (small ring > big ring) which is very annoying.

Would be great to have you as a rider or as team manager... thumbup

We're on the GP course so I'm hoping that the drop from Westfield through to Clearways provides some respite so I think that will be the place to make some time too!....

As a registered entrant, the organisers have been in contact with updates on entries and things like that. In short, its filling up and they have a number of "privateer" teams, soloists and corporate entries as well as charity places. 19/20 September etc etc details on how to join the PistonHeads team are in the post below. Bring your own bidons! wink
