Looking for ideas. I'm building an all-rounder bike later this year based on a Genesis Croix-de-Fer frameset.

Need some disc wheels for tyres up to 32mm, but not looking for anything too heavy.

The best I've seen so far are Mavic Aksium disc, which have a wider-than-normal rims (17mm internal) to accpet wider tyres, as most 'road' rims are around 13mm internal and limited to 28mm max. tyre width.

Are there any other wheelsets out there which I'm not aware of?

Cheers,

Ben

Kinesis Crosslight Disc wheels are good value and not too pricey.

These. Cheaper and a bit lighter compared to the Mavics.

You can also get custom builts for around £350, which would mean you could easily replace components on the wheels when they break or wear out. However, you won't have to worry about rim where with disc wheels smile

Any good 29er mtb wheel if you are running 10spd, otherwise hope on crest work well, and can be run tubeless easily as well, which gives you some interesting options.

are you sure that an e.g. 25 or 28mm tyre is wide enough for a 29er rim?

Depends on how wide a rim you go, but for cyclocross use and a typical 33mm tyre, they are fine. 28's have been used on my crossmax slr's without a problem as well.

I've got some MTB wheels in my Kaffenback with 28s on, they fit no problem. Same width as an H Plus Son Archetype road rim anyway.

What does 'hope on crest' mean? Hope hubs and which rims?

Cheers,

Ben

Another vote for the Kinesis here. Pretty light, seem bombproof, and don't cost a fortune....

Hope hubs with Stans No Tubes Crest rims. It does admittedly sound like a sandwich from subway smile
