A proper TT bike would make a difference but you'll get a good percentage of that benefit just with some clip on aero bars which are a lot cheaper than a full on bike. I used to have some but gave them away a little while ago otherwise you could have had them. If you want, you could have a borrow of my "spare" TT bike (I'm such a tart) one day to see the difference it can make.
Aren't you a foot taller than me thoughbiggrin But thanks for the offer!

See you on Wednesday!

That's a great time there Rob, put's my PB well into context. Is the Strava power figure of 380 watts accurate for that 19 mins, or were you closer to 400 + ? Amazing to think the difference a bit more power and a lot more aero can make in terms of a result.

I reckon you could get an 18 something on that course, with the right set of wheels. I could recommend some if you want - they are so good you have to reign them in a bit else others get the hump... ;-)
Yep, 383 or so, think I did about that in the national ten last aug. So I'm going well as I've not touched the TT bike for 6 weeks before this ride.

I do lose a fair bit in the TT position over the roadbike, I think 400 or so for roadbike is about right as I've got my FTP (hour power) set to around 380w for the roadbike.

Yes 18 is possible, need a few more watts, or to become more aero, I have a session with my coach at newport velodrome soon where we will be aero testing so if I can save 10w of drag and gain 10w of power then I should be there or thereabouts with another nice day on there. Ha, I already have the fastest wheels out there!
Jaw dropping power figures. Chapeau chap!

I've been convinced by my dad to come out of tt retirement and take part in a 2 up with him tonight on p164.

I've not ridden a tt for about 3 years, and I wasn't very good at them then. My best was about 25/26 mins.

It's going to be interesting to see how we do tonight. I've done no training other than just ride my bike, and I'm a bit fat. Can I do sub 30?

Well that went surprisingly well. Did a 26.10 and had to slow up for the old man a bit. Could have got under 26 I think.

First time I had done this course, and it did show, lost a fair chunk of time on the rbts by being too cautious I think.

Enough to win and do another 19 though https://www.strava.com/activities/314585374

Managed to hold around 400w for the return so think I will just try and do 400w for a ten soon and see how it goes as I have been negative splitting these quite a bit.

30mph fk me. I think I remember doing that downhill once.

Mind boggling numbers too. I recently did a turbo session and got a 2m PB of 363W and I could see stars at the end of the interval.

Still hoping to close the road/TT gap a bit more but I find it hard to find the time to ride the TT bike in the week as its certainly not suitable for riding into work etc!

So er.. anyone familiar with H12/8, and any tips. I seem to have signed up for a few laps on the 14th wink

Particularly logistics - details seem to be fairly sparse on where the start/parking etc. is - I'm fairly familiar with events around that kind of duration, but usually involving a splash in a lake to start and a bit of a jog at the end...

Second ever TT. Did a 42:40 (into a monster headwind on the fastest part) on the same course in February so i'm happy with what I think is a 38 on the dot considering i'm on a regular road bike.

New power pb from 13 minutes out to 38 is good, but pace wise I think I went out too hard as the second lap was slower.

I'm down to do my 3rd 10 tomorrow night, will be on a new course that's not so flat and finishes with a climb so will be interesting to see how I go, especially as it'll coincide with my 1st cycle commute, 40mile round trip earlier in the day.

My first proper 10 this evening, only done circuit TTs before now. 22:14 on G10/42. Annoyingly didn't have time to switch to my deep sections, and only had an Evade on as my proper aero helmet strap has broken. Not really sure how much both of those are worth, but seemed quick conditions nonetheless.

Paced it badly going out at 350w which had I been feeling fresh I think I could have potentially held, but legs seem to still be fatigued from the 56mile TT I did Sunday, so watts fell throughout the last half of the ride to 317w average overall.

And to think I was chuffed with my 275w 15. biggrin Good effort!

I'd like to think I've got a 300w 10 in me. Something to aim for at least.

As predicted a slow time last night on CC243a 27:33, obviously commuting to work (33miles) took it out of me before the start - also have tonsillitis which I'm sure doesn't help.

With my early season injury I've been the timer for our local 10 - UC108, so have an interesting insight into the times each week and how riders are improving.

Last week saw the course record get beaten by a chap on his first run around the course, he set a 21.21 and is planning on coming back next week to give it another go.

Turned up in a lovely old Moggy Minor, would've been faster to ride!
